Several people have commented about my son's 1970 Bronco saying something about how cool his old Jeep is. We always just say it's a Bronco, and we think it's pretty cool, too.

In the future...some non car-person will call/think your Bronco is a Jeep...how will you respond?

I had a nephew call an Explorer a Jeep. I think non-car people basically see any SUV of a roughly square size as a "jeep" (not Jeep).
That said, I'd be happy to tell them it's the new Ford Bronco and if they are still paying attention, tell them about all the cool things it can do that a Jeep can't. ?

If someone doesn't know then I don't give it a second thought. My FJ40 is always called an old Jeep. My Land Rover is called a Land Cruiser. My real Gladiator has been called an old Chevy. My old Rane Rover got called a Ranger. My MG has been called a Fiat, an Alfa and an Austin Healy. If people are interested I will share some knowledge, otherwise I don't care.

It happens all the time if you have any vehicle that in any way is impressive.
Non car people just don't know. They are impressed and can't express it well.
I have seen a miata called an rx7. A 80's blazer called a bronco. An Xterra called a pathfinder.
It looks cool and they want to say something.

Non car people just don't know. I'll engage them because they initiated the conversation and hopefully they will walk away with a bit more knowledge.
For example, I had a lady pull up beside me at stoplight once and ask if I was driving the new Explorer. I was driving my 2005 Dodge Magnum RT which looks nothing like an Explorer. I explained what it was and she had no idea.

I dont get upset either usually the vibe is positive and im happy to talk about whatever im in.
Did have one lady ask me why i had to have such a big truck obiviously lookin for a fight ,i just smiled and said im the one whos gonna pull you out of the mud tipped hat and drove off,she was in a prius.
