I installed the JL Audio C2 650 x kick panel speakers yesterday.
A few notes:
  • As previously mentioned, the dead pedal (drivers side) has a false front that can be pried up to reveal 2 10mm nuts.
  • I used a 9/32 nut driver to remove the topmost screw.
  • Scuff plate pops up easily.
  • The metra 72-5602 harness fits perfectly.
  • The factory harness is outside the factory speaker hole which means the metra harness would be pinched under the speaker when installed.
  • I had the bright idea to drill a 3/8hole in the side of the jl speaker adapter. Worked well on 1 speaker but I got carried away on the 2nd one and drilled through the speaker cone (%!?%$@&!!!).
  • Passenger side was a breeze.
  • The speaker has a tweeter cone which was a bit higher than flush which prevents the POS speaker grill from staying closed…
  • The JL speakers came with some trim tools so that was a plus

  • Anyway, hope this helps anyone looking to replace the kick panel speakers…

Don’t want to block bass on these speakers as that is pretty much the only bass you will get is from these speakers.

@Southern Girl im still too pissed off at drilling into the speaker cone lol. I’ll have to do this again so I’ll share some better pics. These will have to do for now.
First pic is showing the hole I drilled and the 2nd is the resulting damage..

@Pressurized the following quote comes to mind.. “Other than that, how did you like the play Mrs. Lincoln?”

Interested to know if tweeter in JL’s has any volume. I’m guessing that kick panel speakers are after low pass filter.

I’ve been eyeing these puppies…Wavecor 6.5”

Did you have an issue getting the speaker cover on the drivers side? I felt like the trim was hitting the speaker
