So I actually just went at it with a utility knife/razer blade knowing I planned to cover it. The plastic material turns white once it’s cut so I think the trim is inevitable- tho I’ll say I think it looks even better with it! I’d say a dremel would work well, probably better than my method. A file may take too long. I would shave some off, test to see if it worked, and shave off more if needed.@BurlyBronco curious what tool or technique you used to trim down the plastic on the edge of the light bar to fit with the soft top.
I've got a Dremel here but am considering just using a file, but hoping you can share some experienced knowledge for what you found worked best
Also do you have any links for that edging/trim you used? It looks nice. Did you use glue on it to make sure it stays?

I attached the automotive trim I used - I purchased it on Amazon. It has adhesive inside already and has stayed on very well so no concerns with gluing or anything else.
Good luck! Go slow and know that once it’s covered it’ll look great.
