Have to agree with Bob. Need something that would work with a rack ultimately.

When inside, does it impair your ability to see out the very top of the windshield? I'm 6'4" and used to looking out the very top part of my windshield at traffic lights, etc.

No, you can not see the light bar under normal circumstances, if you lean over and put your head lower than the steering wheel and then look straight up you can kind of see it but zero reduction in visibility for normal driving.
