I have been looking at a bunch of these options as I am about to pull the trigger on one myself.

The Havoc one you posted seems to sit very high, blocking most of the view out the back window (even when empty). It also mounts to the top of the inside of the hardtop, so it needs to be removed to in order to remove the hardtop.

The M2M one is a cool idea, but since it folds up it is limited in how big it can be and IMO it’s just too small for my needs.

I want one that doesn’t need to be removed in order to remove the hardtop. That narrows down the list of options, but I feel like each has pros/cons.

American Adventure Labs is adjustable in height (highest amount of adjustability), large cargo size, looks very nice, removable side rails, has accessories made specifically for it, and made from aluminum. However the mounting brackets seem bulky and cover the nutserts on the roll bar, it’s expensive, the additional accessories are expensive and add up as well.

Goat Fab is adjustable in height, mounting brackets are sleek. However the sides are way to tall, its narrower than others (I think the height of sides plays a factor in this), it’s expensive and the basket only comes in steel.

Rock Hard 4x4 has a nice large cargo size (widest), comes in aluminum or steel, mounting brackets are sleek, does not block rearview when empty and cheaper than first two options (aluminum $400, steel $350). However its main downfall is it has no adjustability.

Hooke Road is the cheapest option ($230) and has the deepest platform. However it has no adjustability, the brackets are extremely bulky

Ultimately I like the AAL basket the most, the brackets from Goat Fab, and the price from Rock Hard. At this point I am considering getting the Rock Hard and fabricating my own adjustable brackets, unless I am very happy with the height it comes at. Sorry if none of this applies to your needs, but I figured it would give me a reason to write down the pros/cons and hopefully make a decision as I need it for a trip planned mid January.

Thanks, this is some great information. I would need adjustability and would be nice to have either a half rack or full rack at times.

I appriciate your time on detailing each one, this info will be benaficial to others in the future. Thanks

I think you are right, one is for hard top only and the other is for either soft top or hard top

Yes this one is for the hardtop, however in order to remove the hardtop you will need to uninstall this shelf. That is why I am looking for an option that mounts off of the roll cage, like the 4 above that I linked.

That is the rack that I linked in my initial post. It’s a great option, especially for the price. The things I did not care for are that first of all the height is not adjustable. Also the mounts cover one of the nutserts in the roll cage, so any other products that utilize those mounts, will most likely not be able to. Also the bracket sticks up past the top of the roll cage as well, further limiting usage. Obviously these are things that are concerns for me, and may not apply to others.
