Hey all…

So, I wired up these Govee Rock lights to my aux #4 switch.

I got the original idea from @Just_Jim in this thread, and originally had these same LEDs.

https://www.bronco6g.com/forum/threads/additional-dome-lighting-jim-style.38815/

But then I saw this thread by @Klunatic where he used the Govee rock lights on his soft top.

https://www.bronco6g.com/forum/threads/soft-top-interior-lighting-upgrade.37508/

so, I ordered the 6 pack of those and switched them out. They solve my problem of wanting to be able to switch between red and white (or any other color if you wish)

so, thanks all to the ideas.

the video shows me before I secured them. The pics show them secured.

The extreme 3m tape ended up working pretty well. So I’m gonna see how these hold.

Good use of panels to hide wiring, looks like a clean install.
I'll bet those are BRIGHT and fun at night while parked or cruising around slowly.
However, there will be hordes of comments coming about airbag interference.
Prepare yourself.

Right….the soft top allows you to mount to the bracket above but you can’t on the hard top

from what we know the airbags fire downward so I’m not too worried about them

On both the ones in the front I secured the power wire around one of the bolts behind the panel so that it can’t “travel” outward if the airbag fires.

I also still have the option of screwing them to the panel instead of just using 3m

Nicely done. Any pics or video of them on at night? Oh, and where did you get those rock lights from?

Here’s new location

Better too because they fire more down into the cabin instead of across

Where'd you get the brackets from? Make them or buy them at a store?

How do the lights hold up with the top open?

And last question - why'd you mount the lights like that vs rotating them, drilling a hole into the trim piece and running the wires under so you'd have less exposed wire?

I have the same kit ready to install and have been trying to come up with how and where I mount them.

So, yes i bought the brackets and painted them black.

I did it that way for the exact reason you mention, which is I did NOT wanna drill any holes in my trim (while fully realizing yes the screws make tiny holes).

But from inside the Bronco you can’t see ANY exposed wire, you only see if it the top is off and you are standing above.

They are really solid, I’ve been on freeway doing 85 with the top off and they don’t even move.

They are great lights and I love that I can change the color.

cool thanks for the info. Like how they’re angled down as well.

Do you happen to have a link for the brackets?

Yea, the angle is key. You need that to really light up the interior.

I just got them at Home Depot. Just little “L” brackets.

I may end up rotating them and doing what you said with the wire….I’m over the “stigma” of another hole in the trim. Ha.

What I actually want is to wire them to an “always hot” aux switch. Somebody on here know how to do it, I wanna explore that option.

Is the wiring that came with the lights sufficient for hooking up to Aux 4? I assume you connected to the rear quarter panel connection?

No, I hooked into the one that is above the visor on the passenger side (and behind the glovebox that then runs into the firewall)

You def need to buy some wire to run all the way around the trim panel, for power and ground.
