Is anybody else praying their current vehicle lasts long enough for the Bronco to be available?

I am just about to hit 106,500 miles in my 2008 Explorer, it's given me a run for my money over the past few years. I'm sure it'll last long enough until I can secure my own Bronco, but I just hope there's no more major repairs I'll have to do.

Hoping to get a Cyber Orange 2-door Bronco when I'm ready :giggle:

I'm over 236,000 miles (bought it with 88,000 miles) on my 2007 Mercury Mariner (3.0 V6).

When I'm done with it, it will be going to my sister, as that's where vehicles go to live out the rest of their productive lives......

Plenty of life left in the Mariner...The Durtec of that era is BULLETPROOF. Main issues with old Mariners are rocker panel and rear shock tower rust.

What engine do you have in the Mariner? Our is a 2005 and has been excellent.
The "new" 3.0LV6, 6 Spd AT. It's a different engine than my daughter's 2008 Mariner, which also has the 5 spd AT and no Sync. She has 155k on hers, and rocker panel & tailgate rust. It's been outside and rain washed only, since it rolled out of KC Assembly.

I know the V6 Durtec from 96-07 is one of the most reliable engines ever made. Not sure about the "new" ones.

Once they started going to VVT, DI, aluminum blocks and other weight saving measures, the reliability suffers.

Yes, I know. ;)

I (as in I did all of the wrenching) replaced the Struts & Shocks along with a full brake rebuild around the 230,000 mile mark. Back around the 226,000 mile mark I had the #2/#4 band within the transmission go out (common and know issue), I tore into it and replaced it myself as well. Other than that, I had one of the front wheel bearings go out, I guess that was around the 180,000 mile mark and yes, I replaced it myself as well. Just doing what I can to keep it going and reliable for when I give it to my sister.

I did front wheel bearings too. I do all my own wrenching. So far the transmission is still going; but it does have a small shudder. I drain and replace the fluid ever other oil change.

Probably the biggest job was the starter. You have to take the entire front end (right side) apart to get to it. I did the job and used a cheaper starter....I had to do it again a year later. I used a Motorcraft part the second time.

Cheaper parts are NEVER cheap.

09 Flex here.... just passed 200,000KM... praying for it to hold up till I get the Bronco!
Got some rear bearings that need to be replaced... the Edge 22" sport wheels don't help either... looks good tho no rust and the leather seats are still mint... but if the water pump fails the engine is toast!!!

08 edge with right at 200,000 , took five hours and 140.00 dollars worth of parts to change both the speed sensor and the other one right there
Hardest part is fishing the wire thru ....but well worth the time and has rolled another bunch of miles since

That's the "good" car my 01 focus just wont die so my better half gets the bronco

My Hyundai Sonata only has 42000 miles on it . I hate to let it go - but 3 vehicles is my limit.
My 93 Mustang isn't going anywhere....

Yup 2010 Mazda 6 with 200+ on it. Currently it sometimes won’t start up in park I have to put it in neutral ??‍♂ I will be devastated if it kicks the bucket before the Bronco is out and available lol

We currently have 4. I'm going to sell at least two of them before the Bronco gets here. I don't drive the YJ hardly at all, but...Since new...Man that'll be tough to part with.

2006 F-350 6.0, 130k... Motor is still solid, replaced a blown up turbo and manifold, currently leaking from the transfer cases, and the battery light is on, and the tires need replaced, and the 4WD switch doesn't appear to do anything. Manual hubs would be a great option for the Bronco. So yeah, I'm hoping to treat it gingerly until the horse comes home!
I knew I shouldn't have said anything.... alternator puked yesterday and now in the shop. I think the old gal is pissed at me!
