They might not be made there. Just a likely possibility.
But yeah I'm with you, I really want the 7 speed but if its gonna made in China I'll suck it up and buy an auto.

I canā€™t find where itā€™s being made at all! Itā€™s already in full production. I would guess Germany.

Iā€™m concerned that they will not have enough manuals.

they will have enough. You will likely just have to order it. And it might take a while to get to you. Dealers donā€™t like keeping them on the lot because they donā€™t sell.

@ChrispyKC has stated that dealers will be more than willing to order you a manual. As long as you want to wait a few days .

I love driving stick but I got hit by a car in college riding my motorcycle and tore up everything in my left knee. Now ten years later my knee is killin me after driving stick for a short time.
In college in the mid 90's, I drove a beastly 88 Ford Ranger single cab 5 sp manual with an 2.0 i4 80hp engine.
The clutch was so hard to press, I ended up damaging my knee.
No surgery required, but I had to wear a knee brace for 5+ years after that...
That truck was my one and only Ford. ?

I didn't get another stick shift vehicle again until I got the BRZ in 2013 and have had zero problems with my knee using it. (I think I was the 5th person in St. Louis to order Subaru's first rear wheel drive car since the 40's.)

I'm going to take a chance again on a manual Bronco, ordered sight unseen.

new manuals these days have a lot of computer control.
auto rev matching. Super syncros. And a springy clutch.

drove a c7 Vette not to long ago and I didnā€™t like how fake the manual felt Vs my 94 454 work truck.

Yes. Because I am a MT guy, and after driving my wifeā€™s new Audi with a 8 sp auto in the mountains for a week, every reason I have always preferred manual still exists and you cannot convince me otherwise. (Note: dual clutch is a different discussion.)

So I really, really hope the difference between a getting a 2.7 or enough towing capacity does not come down to transmission choice.

I really doubt they would manufacture the transmission, such a critical part for an American vehicle, in China. Especially after the publicity the ranger received for ranking #1 for the AMI.

It very well could be built in the Getrag Sterling Heights plant itā€™s literally 3 blocks away from the Ford transmission plant that makes the 8speed auto

I'll most likely be getting the 7MT, but I could see cause for concern with the 10AT. Ford doesn't exactly have the best track record the past 10 years with their automatic transmissions.

Not sure if anyone has considered the option of tuning the 2.7L
When it is recalibrated the trans is as well
I have had 3 vehicles with the 10 speeds now
All of them were recalibrated along with the engines
Makes a world of difference
Takes all the sloppiness out of the shifting strategy ?

Ive been able to break both 3 and 4 speed autos in the past. A 10 spd has atleast 6 or 7 more things to fail. Heat is usually the enemy and with only turbo motors available sounds iffy to me. My 96 is limping along fine as long as I dont tow anything into the upcountry or try to take it about 5000ft after that is starts pissing fluid like gonorrhea. Seals up fine at lower altitudes just gotta get it in the trans shop one day here for a new front seal, maybe a pump, and a fresh cooler.

Ohh after a few thousand miles I am definitely getting a 5star tune.
