When I go on long road trips, I bring my floor jack. Yah its cumbersome, but has worked great for me.

I think the OP was used to cars that were built like this. Use a floor jack and block of wood and lift the bottom of the spring. Not a good place for a jack stand though. But handy for changing a tire.

Looks simple. As long as it doesn't leak When on its side, pretty cool.

First, as everyone has mentioned, use a proper jacking point.
Second, I'm rolling with this.
Had to use it 2x this weekend at a rally - Once when the guy in front of me de-beaded a tire & his wasn't tall enough for where he was at & again when I had so much mud in my wheels I needed to pull them to clean everything out before heading home.

The jack is basically like any other car. It is only designed for occasional changing a flat tire. It works for this purpose.

This jack bent a little while I was changing a tire. It feels way too flimsy for a vehicle like this.

I am going to swim upstream and agree with the OP. The jack that comes with your bronco is not "adequate". It is under-engineered and is not safe, even for "ideal" conditions of changing a tire on a perfectly flat shoulder with plenty of space and no wind...which never happens around here. Indeed, I'm going to go as far and say that that the extension should have been engineered to hold up being placed under the bolts of the LCA and not buckled, because of course someone was and is going to do that on a dark, wet, windy night...

I have seriously thought about removing it from my bronco just to prevent myself or wife/daughters from being tempted to use it but have hesitated but this thread seals that decision - into the trash it goes where it belongs.

It is minimalist crap like this jack that has me wondering what legal system allows Ford to even exist - it should have been sued out of existence long ago. F U Ford for including this jack that not only apparently designed for an OG Miata and when you figured out it was a little short for the SAS you threw in a spare bracket from a childs toy.... :p

Ok, rant over. On a lighter note just the other day I pull up to the natatorium to get in my laps and I spy another parent changing the tire on his beat up and old mini van and he is pulling a floor jack out from the back. He explained he had been milking a bent rim along...:ROFLMAO:

OEM Ford jacks have been trash for a long time, even worse now.

I have a cheap 2-ton scissor jack that I bought from a parts store (forget the brand) that I use all over my property that is leaps and bounds better than a flimsy late model Ford Jack.
