I have read that a chip can cause powder coating to chip further like an egg, but idk. There seems to be a small chip on the front of the bumper -​

I have a chip in the paint on my bumper. It has not propagated any though.

Yes it's possible to chip it. Yes, that exact chip will be more susceptible to additional chipping, but only if that exact spot gets hit again. The odds of that are exceedingly low. Put some black paint on it to protect from corrosion and forget about it.
