Is it possible to get 4.27 drive ratio without locking rear differential? Or are they tied together ?
According to the axle selection chart 4.27 is only available as a locking rear.

For me, yes. Just saw it on friend’s bronco bill of sale and it said 4.27 drive ratio but didn’t say rear locker. I assumed without it listed, it still included rear locker, but wasn’t sure you could get without?

This is one of the ways that they limit build combinations to minimize assembly complexity. Only pairing a specific differential product with one specific gear ratio is not unprecedented at Ford.

I'm trying to convert my order today. I keep trying to get the salesman to give me the 4.46 with a LOCKING. He keeps printing out specs with a 4.46/Rear Axle-Open Differential.

I can get locking on a 4.46 can't I? What is it's code so I can help him out?
