Is the center console lid supposed to have a spring?

Is mine the only center console lid that seems to have absolutely NO spring resistance to help keep it open? Mine pretty much slams back down unless I hold it open.

Anybody else have this?

Just like everything else, I'm waiting on @IAG Performance to release a strut for it.

Mine did that but I added one of those aftermarket padded ones and it is wide enough that the side of the seats help hold the lid in place.

The padding is nice also.

Itā€™s like soooo close to staying open. How did they miss that one.

Use your elbow. I have never had a vehicle with a spring in the center console.

My 11 year old F-150 has a spring. A $60K vehicle should have a 10 cent spring.

springs are a one of the deadly sins not discussed in the ordering process.
Ford was scared we'd jump ship to Jeep if we found out the console would not stay open due to the shortage of spring steel

I've never had a car with a spring like that other than a 1970 Dodge.

Exactly. Now we have a thread (granted, I donā€™t think it was the intent of the OP) where people can accuse ford of ā€œcheaping outā€ on something that Iā€™ve literally never seen on a car.

My Bronco is the only car I've had that the console comes down on you, I guess it's a feature

I just went to look at mine. It stays up and doesn't pass the tipping point until moved forward several degrees... Even with the rediculous factory rake.

Have you had your console out, maybe it is t seated all the way down in back?

Interesting. Havenā€™t had mine out at all but will check to see that it is seated properly.

Mine only stays up with I put it in the exactly vertical position. If even slightly off, it comes slamming down.
