UPDATE: The order definitely does not automatically convert.
Just went into my dealer and demanded to speak with someone who could actually update my order. They then told me that it was too late to update orders and the system was locked out. I preceded to lose my sh!t!!
They had a myriad of excuses (parts supplies were running short, people made too many changes, etc.), none of which were convincing. Finally I was able to speak with the guy who was handling all Bronco orders for the dealership, and he again told me it was too late to make any changes. I then asked him to explain to me what would happen to my First Edition order since you can’t get it with the MOD top, to which he responded, “I don’t know why you couldn’t get it. Your order shows it as an option.”
HOW DO THESE DEALERS HAVE NO CLUE ABOUT THIS AT THIS POINT!!!
Finally I said, “Can you just try to change the order and see what happens?” Despite his insistence that it wouldn’t work, guess what: update confirmed! I had him print my order summary and low and behold it was updated and my priority code was still a non-99 number (changed from 19 to 10 but I don’t think that means anything).
Moral of the story is:

Moral of the story is:
- Your FE order will not automatically convert your top to MIC if you initially order a Modular Top.
- Insist that your dealer complete the change
- Insist that they provide you with a copy of your order.
- If the dealer tells you that they can’t update the order, ask them to humor you and at least try!
Original Post:
So I contacted my dealer last week (4/7) to update my FE order (needed to switch from MOD to MIC top). Dealer said he would update the order and send me the revised order sheet.
By the next day, 4/8, I still hadn’t received my updated order sheet, so I stopped by the dealership to just pick up the sheet in person. My dealer said that he was swamped and everything was being uploaded, but the system was lagging so it may take a little longer to complete. Fair enough, so I told him I’d wait for the email.
Next day4/9, still no email and we are now past the date to update the order. Contacted Ford customer service and they confirmed my order was still in the system and everything was fine (but couldn’t tell me any specifics about my order). However, when they asked for my 4-digit order number from the original order sheet, they claimed that the 4 character code (starting with a letter (r if that mean anything to anyone) as opposed to 4 digits) was incorrect. Now I’m starting to get worried.
Finally got in contact with my dealer this afternoon, and he was surprised I hadn’t gotten an updated email confirming my order change. He then tired to log into the system and said it was freezing on him, but he could see that I had Modular Hardtop selected. When I told him, “yeah that’s why I’ve been calling to confirm that you changed the order to a MIC top,” he said he would need to talk to their designated Bronco order specialist because they system kept freezing, but he would be in tomorrow.
Long story short, I’m concerned that my FE order is totally f#cked! Does anyone know of a number to someone at Ford who can actually view my order and tell me what’s going on? The people at 800-334-4375 are in Florida and can’t seem to tell me any specifics. The only thing they keep saying is that I should try to address the issue with dealer. MY DEALER IS THE ISSUE!
I appreciate any assistance anyone can provide. Beyond frustrated at this point!
