I have not decided yet, but I am comparing BD to BL and assuming the BD I would buy 5 285/70/17 Tires and wheels about $425 each so $2100. Those tires are at the outer limits of the stock wheel and I don't think it would work with the factory offset. I know I would get some utility from the factory tires and wheels, but I would still need to lay out the cash to buy the "spare set". Thats makes the net price between BL and BD about $3k (I need to pull the Aluminum wheels off the BD build in this case). The differences for the builds I think are comparable and I am considering are below. My minimum options for this example was rear locker, Hardtop, Advanced Transfer Case and Aluminum wheels (I think I have the builds and pricing correct)-
Hardtop, Auto, Advanced Transfer Case, Aluminum WheelsWildtrak (Cloth Seats, Carpet, Standard Bumper, 35" tires)Badlands (MGV, Sig Light, Modular Bumper, R.Rails, 33" BFG Tires)Black Diamond (MGV, Mod. Bumper, Case,R.Rails?, 31.6" tires)DifferenceDifference/BD to WT% To sales Price
2.3 Mid$49,870$45,615$4,2559.33%
2.3 High$51,165
2.7 mid$50,970$51,765$47,510$4,255$3,4608.96%
2.7 High$52,265$53,060$7951.50%
W/Modular Bumper $825$53,090$53,060-$30
Revised w/o Aluminum wheels on BD

Here's the problem I found with Mattwing's spreadsheet. He makes it seem like it's a relatively small jump between the Black Diamond and the Badlands, but every time I go to build a Badlands, I add all the cool shit to it and then it ends up being over 10G's!

Right, it's a problem for sure. It's a bigger jump already, because I thought the steelies looked pretty good in person, so I had to adjust the net cost. I would like and may go high package still, because the 360 camera and 12' screen are pretty nice too. I was originally going LUX, because I want the B&O, Adaptive Cruise & heated wheel more than the 12" screen and camera, but the madness had to stop somewhere. I am half considering just go BD 2.3 and see if I actually enjoy the Bronco for a year or two, then order up exactly what I actually find I need/use. Doesn't help I was unemployed for two months and missed out on at least $70k in commissions I was going to receive if I was at my former employer (New job is way better, so only a temporary reduction in income). The struggle is real!!!!!

the pics of the underbelly are great. Anyone know if the catalytic converter is protected under there? thieves chopped mine off my element last week, and the bronco is even higher allowing more access...

@Mattwings, thanks for the great, very detailed pics. Seeing the crash bars up close, do you think 285/70/17 (32.7") tires can be fitted in the wheel well without rubbing and modifying the crash bars?

It looks to be very close. I imagine if they don’t fit, the aftermarket will quickly have a low cost solution with a small shock spacer and modified crash bars like the Ranger. Depending on the upper control arm clearance you may also need to use wheel spacers on the stock wheels to get full clearance and articulation. Again, may fit, will just have to try it and see. It is interesting the 20121 Ranger Tremor comes with 265/70/17 tires and from what I understand that is the max tire they will warranty the drivetrain with. I think the weak spot is the axle as you go up in tire size. Probably not a problem if you treat the vehicle in a reasonable manner, but Ford has to warranty the vehicle with somewhat of a worst case scenario in mind.

Thanks for these. This is exactly my build, with 7-speed. Love love love it. I've watched this video of the same setup about 200 times
