How'd that install go? Curious if it was a one man job.
I did it by myself, it would help to have step ladders on both sides.

Everything needs to be loose until you get all four brackets bolted together and under the lip on the top. The lip on the left front was tighter than the right front, so I had to pry it up a little with a big screwdriver to get the bracket to slip in. Right side went together with no prying.

any real world feedback for the JCR 2D half rack?

wind noise, removal (for removing full top) if necessary, weight support, any hardtop scratching, etc.

will be in the market in a few months. looks good, install looks straight forward.

there is definitely more wind noise than with no rack. I had the stock rack off for too long to remember if is different.

of course it adds weight to the top, but I do not think it would effect the effort required to remove the top.

I have no idea on the weight carrying capacity, but I couldn't lift anything heavy up there anywhere. I use it to carry the roof panels, and will likely be carrying recovery boards on it as well.

If you are careful with the install, you will not scratch the hardtop.

I can't be the first person to install the two door short rack, can I?

actually looks great!

my use case is probably a few storage totes (gear), the tops in the bag, or recovery boards. guessing that is good.

assume the front panels can be removed without interference?

can you remove the whole roof and leave it intact?

still curious on noise difference. full rack has the deflector.

@JcrOffroad any thoughts?

I can see how you would take the front section of the top off but how do you take the mid-section off? Do you have to remove the rack to take the mid section top off?

You unclamp them and slide the panels out the side under the rack.

The front and middle panels can remove with the rack installed.

Thanks. I can see how the front (split) panels would come off that way. Seems like a tight fit to bring of the middle (single piece) panel out through the side.

Anyone doing this regularly? How challenging is it to get the middle panel out?

It’s not challenging. You are overthinking it.
