You just wrote something here; went past it, but let’s go back….. “Just don’t see how it was advantageous at for Jeep other than a not for the few die hards”.Felt like the Bronco inclusion was kind of dumb… like u just drove by it, so what? Also why not pick a fugly Bronco with a softop? I think a lot of people probably saw that scene and said “oh, I like how that other one looks.” Just don’t see how it was advantageous at all for Jeep other than a nod for the few die hards that were already buying Jeeps anyways.
Well, that’s the issue or concern for Jeep. Some of their die hards who they depend on to buy Jeep after Jeep have now moved to Bronco. This thread alone has several n00bs who just joined and moved from a Jeep Gladiator or Wrangler; that behavior is ripe with risk for a car company.
Brand loyalty is paramount in the car business, thus the gather events, swag, forums, etc. The attrition rate for Wrangler is starting to get out of hand. Add to that the mismanagement from Stellantis and failure to understand the American car culture and buyer and you have a recipe for bankruptcy or a brand sale.
I for one don’t want to see Wrangler go away. I think that’s the truck to get if you’re into true rock crawling. However, the chasing of the big money mall crawler can become intoxicating; even Ford is caught in that fool‘s gold loop at this very moment likely from the execs. That lack of respect for the buyers who actually care and create the culture is what makes them walk away. Toyota is also currently in a similar death loop with these hybrids that no one who really uses these trucks for other than commuting and pulling up at soccer practice wants.
Wranglers started to cost a ton with the JL, but why? No reason, just stupid and greedy. So, along comes Bronco with a better value proposition and equal heritage and BAM!!!
Now Jeep is in trouble and had to spend their last few dollars to bet on black. Again, no new owners won, but if they can keep the ones they got not to come back, maybe, just maybe, they can survive.
We shall see..
