I have no issue with dealers marking up refused customer orders, mannequins, and eventually stock units. They’re a business and are free to charge what they think they can get. The ones who charge ADM on the original customers orders are scum

Like @Sherminiator said, local lots have plenty of marked up vehicles. Local ford store, 1500 to 3 over window on rangers, local chevy dealer 1500 over on Colorados.

Definitely! It shows a lot of their character when they work with a customer knowing the customer is expecting msrp on a vehicle they've waited for, only to pull the rug out and hold them hostage for extra money.

dealerships were deemed essential because vehicles and maintenance to them is deemed essential so yeah, there should be something there. But we are basically opened up now and not necessarily in any emergency situation

It's breach of contract IMHO. You place an order, sign a contract and know what to expect UP FRONT. The dealers have NOTHING to lose. There should be a stipulation in your contract/order that says if there's a breach that the vehicle goes back to the manufacturer. Also a higher down payment should be required so the consumer has something to "lose" too. Like their $1000 deposit which is fully refundable at time of delivery.

You wouldn't accept any of these fees on another product you buy. Why now? Dealers do this to pad their numbers and make more money. Yes that's the name of the game, but shouldn't be at the expense of the consumer - the people who live in your community. Puts a bad taste in people's mouths to say the least.

If you order something on a website, like a pair of sneakers at a listed price, then get them sent to you with $20 added would you accept the order? Would you ever buy again from that business? There is no limit as to what businesses can and will do for an extra buck, but Tesla is worth what all the US manufacturers are worth combined. To stay relevant, legacy manufacturers must earn respect and loyalty. It is not just given to them.
changing the agreed upon price AFTER the fact is hardly the same as asking a premium for an in demand hot commodity.

Dealers who change the price AFTER the order are opportunistic crooks.
