I can tell a significant difference. This and stuffing polyfil in the stock sub box really improved my audio sound.

Dunno... Did the same when I was pulling out my fake sub and replacing it with a kicker and did not notice anything in particular. Also put a dB meter to it before and after and it was something like 1-2dB difference.

Did not fill the sub with poly and am getting some rattles but not about to go back there, particularly since I also need to pull out the molle panels.

The biggest difference for me was the audio. I’m not sure there is a significant difference in regards to road noise.

I did this - couldn’t really tell a ton to be honest but while I had it apart it can’t have hurt anything. And it does help to deaden rattles from loose panel clips and crap

I did but there isn’t a whole lot of wall to mat. The rear fender and …. Yeah, that’s it. The doors I guess - I did not do those, they seemed to be a bit of a pain to get at.

I did a little on the fender well and mentioned it in the video, but didn’t film it. Like the other reply said, there isn’t a lot of area to place it unless you take the speaker box out, which I didn’t want to do.

Decibel is a measure of pressure not sound quality. There is a lot more to audio and why strategically placed dense mat is beneficial. Rattles are more likely due to poor construction or connection between parts of the car; NVH. Put some closed cell foam in places that seem loose or in between plastic parts.

No time to put it all in here, but it is way more complicated than a dB meter. Some of what you actually hear is subjective because of how you, personally, process sound. So, be open to finding what sounds good to you and not a generic answer.

Thanks for the 'splaining but... dBs are a generic measure of a power ratio or amplitude ratio of any field, whether acoustic, electrical, gravitational, or even light.

I did say that I did not perceive any meaningful change after doing it, and I did a dB test solely as a means of cross-chekcing my perception with a semi-quantitative method. I deeply apologize for not having access to a spectrum analyzer. And I made no conclusion about how others may perceive the results, just what my outcome was.

YMMV.

Lots of posts about cargo area sound deadening. I put down 2 layers, Dynamat and closed cell foam, but the other thing i did which I've seen no one else talk about.

I took out the plastic bin, which leaves a hole right to the ground, and in my mind has to act like a road noise echo chamber, and I put Dynamat all around the sides and bottom On the outside. It give it a tighter fit when it went back in, as well as the sound deadening qualities probably needed on a plastic bottom.
