And to add to the kinetic rope discussion-bigger (diameter) is not better. If doing an actual potential energy (get it?) assist, if your rope is too big it will act as a strap and damage could occur. The ropes I’ve used for countless semi truck rescues were only 2” in diameter, and boy do they get small before you start moving the stuck 102,000 pound truck. Also, they start losing their elastic potential with every pull. After three good pulls you need to let it “rest” for at least 15 minutes or it effectively becomes a static strap. But if you didn’t get it with three, maybe it’s time to use the winchI would agree with the soft shackles and kinetic ropes. I’m partial to Yankum but there are plenty of videos out there showing multiple brands in tests. Educate yourself before trying. As @SierraBronco says, go slow and double check your work and others. The kinetic ropes and soft shackles are far safer than the trucker chains we started out on in the 70’s. The snatch-um straps were a big improvment over chains and the kinetic ropes and soft shackles are a big improvement over the straps. They can still fail if not used correctly or damaged. The longer the rope, the more energy it can provide. Just make sure not to run them over!
