Gonna see a lot of this going forward. Dealers screwing folks over, and them coming up in here for answers...
Hopefully we have enough group sanity to be able to provide real answers. Starting to run low...

I recently bought a used car from them over the summer, they were great to work with and very upfront. I'm just really disappointed that they aren't more receptive to the issue that a non refundable is ridiculous. And that they went back on thier word after I switched to them, they could at least offer invoice.

I watched this happen with Hellcat orders. I am screaming this!!!! These small dealers, regardless of reservations, will NOT receive the allocations needed. Just because a dealer has reservations does not mean they will be able to fulfill the demand from customers. I can foresee a complete nightmare coming for many customers that thought they were getting a Bronco in MY2021 or MY2022.

I'm not an expert by any means. But most dealerships sides are ran by different people. The used car side of the business might be a good guy. Obviously the new side is not...

Long time lurker, first post. Hello all.

I'm a July 14th res holder, early morning time frame.
Moved my reservation once, after talking to this dealership about xplan and no ADM, which they told me they would honor it plus lifetime Powerplant warranty.

After transferring my reservation, they called and confirmed it transferred a month or so ago.

Yesterday I received the following email:

Hello,

Thank you for your Bronco reservation! We have updates from Ford: Deliveries of Bronco will be starting June of 2021…unfortunately, Bronco has over 190,000 reservations and Ford can only build a small percentage of those for the 2021 model year. We currently have over 50 reservations, but only given a small fraction of guaranteed allocation for 2021. The remaining reservations to orders will turn into 2022 models, no ETA as of today.

We need your order confirmation by 01/19/2021…

If you would like to convert your reservation to an order, please let us know ASAP…below are the current options that may delay your order, and free demand options that may get your order scheduled quicker:

Below are the current options that as of today may delay your order:
  1. 2.7L Ecoboost
  2. Sasquatch Package
  3. Wildtrak
  4. 2-door
  5. Lux Package
  6. Leather Seat Options
  7. Hard Top

Below is free demand as of today:
  1. Big Bend
  2. 4-door
  3. 2.3L
  4. Soft Top

To proceed with the order, we are taking $2500 non-refundable deposits…we are doing this to be fair, and trying to eliminate customers placing multiple orders at multiple dealerships across the country, a common practice in today’s environment…

What we will need from you:

  1. List of trim, colors, options for your Bronco order (you can build one on www.ford.com)…if you have any questions, we can email you an order guide…
  2. Front & back of your driver’s license

We will then email you a buyer’s order to sign, copy of order receipt from Ford, and the information for the $2500 non-refundable deposit options…

If you have any questions, please feel free to reply….we are very excited for your new Bronco!

Bronco Specialist Team

Now, I don't mind putting a deposit down. But for it to be Non-refundable is asinine.

Is any one else experiencing this?

I replied asking before I go through with a deposit that they confirm price and xplan. They said they couldn't honor it, then I asked about the Ford appreciation Certificate for $2000 off that Ford gave me when I called to change dealerships. They promptly replied with they are not accepting that either.

I'm not giving 2500 to find out in March when they change the build and price again that my features go up in price or other features are available that would change my order. Or, I have a life event that prevents me from finalizing the purchase, and they take my money and sell my order off the lot with markup.
Ok, what do you think the purpose of a deposit is?
It’s not really a commitment if you can change your mind and take back your money ! lol
If you can’t afford the deposit, you might not be making the best financial decision?

I can afford the deposit, but I'm not willing to hand money over for nothing. There's too many variables that aren't set, Ford has constantly changed things, we haven't seen a production model, I haven't driven or even seen one in person.

I would be an idiot to hand free money to someone without seeing the product first hand.

I prefer to be an intelligent consumer.

They have literally nothing to lose if I bail out, in fact they would benefit tremendously if I did.

Yeah. Not getting it.

$1k is plenty a commitment. And refundable bc anything can happen in a year. Especially during the economic instability we're all facing.

Nothing to do with can't afford it. I plan on putting $15-20k down on this Bronco. But I'm not handing over $2500 sight unseen for a car I *might* get this year. But likely not till 2022.

Giving up that kinda money costs me actually more money. Non refundable. That's a joke.

What a total embarrassment for Ford. I wish this had been a semi-important project for Ford & they'd had more than a few months to plan for it.

And this is exactly why I called a guy I knew at a Ford dealer, that I have sold him parts for his dirt track cars for years and selling/ installing accessories for his new vehicles that he sells. Gave him the run down and he told me not to worry, no games here. So I made my res. , hence why it is not a first day res. I might pay a little more than if I go to one of the BIG dealers but no BS, no travel to get my Bronc, much less complicated.

For the record when I made the res he was not there the next day so I got 2 emails about coming in and giving the $500 deposit that they require not the $100 I paid. So of course my response was then, OK but I talked to "joe" and he said no games. their response was oh you are dealing with "joe" OK. Now that being said I fully expect to put more down when I go in to place my order, that is understandable, but I will say if he says non-refundable it will not go over easy. ;) but I do not expect any trouble. If there is the next time he needs a tonno cover, mud flaps, rainguards, and a bugshield on a new F-150 to help "pad" his sale, The price is going up !!! :ROFLMAO: Two can play at that game.

Do you work for Chapman? Cause that’s the most jackass of answers to this post. Not about if we can afford something, it’s the fact that he is being asked to buy something sight unseen. Honestly, I think everyone on this thread is dumber because of your post.

A deposit is fine, the non-refundable part is the problem as is the number (4-6% of the cost of the vehicle up front site unseen and non-refundable is trash). Hopefully the dealer loses most of their reservations and Ford moves the allocation to another dealer when they fail to convert.

Don't. Haha. I tried the nice approach and he got douchey pretty quick.

To me this guy is that guy in the bar that hits on the girl and she's like eww get away and he turns and goes I didn't want you anyway. Real winner type.
Exactly. Hence why dealing with dealerships is shit
