I got the Ford Power-Up 4.2.3 update yesterday Oct 6 and now when I start my vehicle is 12" screen stays on the bucking bronco for about a full minute with no sound or climate controls. The screen then goes black for about a minute and the audio and climate come back before the screen slowly boots up to it's normal self. After this it seems to be fine but it's annoying as hell.

Has this been happening to anyone else?
Yep the same thing has happened to mine plus the proximity remote is buggy now. If my key is in my left pocket it’s not detected. And the back tailgate door won’t lock or unlock anymore. All since the update

You have to shut EVERYTHING off, then that doesn't happen.

I just checked the screen on mine.
Select Settings, then Connected Vehicle Features. The list of stuff you can turn off include:
  • Vehicle Connectivity
  • Share Vehicle Data
  • Share Vehicle Location
  • Share Driving Data
  • Shared Vehicle Analytics
  • Share Media Analytics
  • Speech Recognistion Feedback
I turned every one of those off on mine and it no longer trys to update anything and it no longer shares any information with Ford about where I am or how I'm driving.

It's not that hard to keep "Big Brother" from snooping on what you're doing with your Bronco.
Are you able to see the location of the bronco via your app? That’s more what I’m concerned about. Any vehicle equipped with on star can be remotely disabled, I assume something similar can be done to the bronco.

Never tried it and I'm sure I can't do it now with everything turned off. The only thing that I ever did with the app was a remote start. I kind of like being able to do that when it has sat outside all night and it's 11 degrees out. I just might re-enable things to be able to do that this winter. Maybe.

Gotcha ok. And yes - I love the BD all around. The only possible negative is the lack of push button 4A on the non-advanced, which is what I have. But even I am caring less and less about that.
Ok now I’m confused. See screenshot… software version doesn’t jive with anything I’ve seen here. Also:
1. Auto updates was ON. I turned it off.
2. It told me that ā€œsoftware is up to dateā€
3. So far no glitching.

So…. Which version do I have? I didn’t see any other logical menu that would show it.

I hate that it’s happening, but glad to know it’s not unique to us.

We’ve disconnected and reconnected our phones and still have the issue, which also rules out an issue with our phones.
Sadly it looks like it's reduced but still happening. I'm also getting an issue where phone calls get this digital noise. If I switch to handset speaker and then back to the Bluetooth connection it clears, but then comes back.

Yes, in app, select ā€œvehicleā€ to see location, assuming only if connectivity settings are enabled. Unsure if it could be used similar to on star to disable the vehicle…maybe by mother Ford, law enforcement or your lender? 😬

my concern is more about in the future when whoever thinks I have met my carbon allotment for the month and they decide I can’t drive anymore. That after all is the goal for us ā€œuseless eatersā€ as they refer to us non elites.

If we get to that point it’ll be the least of our concerns I’m afraid

My 22 BL uploaded 4.2.2 Sept 19th. Apple play is working but has locked up once and doesn't always go full screen automatically. I also noted changed settings for the 12" center display that limits dim/bright control. Which chaps me.
Did you get 4.2.3 after 4.2.2? Or jump over 4.2.2?

Glad I'm not alone. Since the latest update, Google Maps won't populate on screen (blank blue background behind my car/arrow) unless I open the app on my phone; the screen does not respond to inputs (pressing play, skip, etc...has no effect in Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Apple Music); the Bronco screen/system requires rebooting (my phone struggles to connect, or it finds my wife's phone over mine and won't let me change, OR the screen becomes fully unresponsive even though hard buttons still work).

My wife and I are both running the latest non-beta iOS. Like I said, near-zero issues since taking delivery, but a ton in the last week or so.

Gotta love Ford's email they sent out:

"Have you set your schedule for Software Updates?" šŸ¤¦ā€ā™‚ļø

I'm apparently on 4.2.2.3 and have also started noticing this problem. About 25% of the time the screen is stuck on the Bronco animation for about a minute before it reboots itself and then everything works.

FWIW, I think that is a Google Maps or Apple CarPlay issue because it happened to me multiple times in recent weeks when I was driving rental cars of other OEM brands while traveling on business and away from home.

If you zoom way out on that ā€œblank blue backgroundā€, you will see that it’s a spot in the Gulf of Guinea off the west African coast in the South Atlantic Ocean where the prime meridian and the equator intersect (i.e., latitude: 0 degrees, longitude: 0 degrees). This is officially known as Null Island — an island of misfit data from a computer coding perspective.

The following video explains the issue in more detail…
