From published data:
Heaviest curb weight = 5129 (2-Doors) or 5320 lbs (4-Doors).
Gross Combined Weight Rating (GCWR) = 8840 lbs. (for both 2 & 4 Doors)
Payload Rating = 1170 or 1370 lbs. (for 2-Doors or 4-Doors, respectively)

I don't remember whether the GVWR (Gross Vehicle Weight Rating) has been published or not. Even if it has not, we can still draw a couple of conclusions from the published data we currently have.

1. For non-towing, the payload is 1170 (2-Doors) or 1370 lbs (4-Doors). Because Ford published these numbers.

2. For towing, the max tow rating is 3500 lbs. Tongue weight would be 350 lbs. (typically 10% of tow weight).
- On 2-Doors trims, you can tow 3500 lbs. and carry a payload of 820 lbs. (1170 - 350).
- On 4-Doors trims, you can tow 3500 lbs. and carry a payload of 1020 lbs. (1370 - 350).
Referring to item # 2. The curb weight from base to fully optioned is a 800 lb difference. If the gvwr ends up being equal that means on the 2 door for a fully optioned vehicle payload would be in the 400 range and the 600 range for a 4 door. This leads me to believe gvwr will be adjusted, possibly for the 2.7. If not, those with badlands and fe will have the lowest payload. Going with posted data.

You've included GCWR but forgot to do anything with it.
For the 2-door V6: 8840-5120=3720lbs remaining, so with a 3500lb trailer you only have 220lbs of payload available.
For the 4-door V6: 8840-5320=3520lbs, so you don't even have the payload required for you to drive. I'm guessing that max curb weight number is for the FE which isn't even available with the tow hitch, and now we know why.

Remember everyone, at high trailer weights GCWR governs payload and at low trailer weights GVWR governs payload.

I grabbed this off of a two door cyber orange Bronco. I do not recall the trim? It was possibly from a video of someone demonstrating the ability to enter the back seat from the drivers side.

I can't tell for sure if this is the payload or not. I do see 816 lbs. on the label.
If the max payload is 1170 lbs (mostly for the lightest base trim, as mentioned by others), it is a reasonable guess that the 2-Door BL payload is 354 lbs. less than the Base due to the BL being heavier by said weight.

If you are going to overland, modify, or pull a trailer, you might as well throw GVWR out the window.
GVWR on my wrangler is 5,000...it weighs 4,740 without me. I don’t even have any crazy mods. So, me and my wife can’t even ride in my Jeep. ?.
the GVWR on the Bronco is about the last thing I’m worried about.

Btw, l’m not denying that the 4 door GVWR is bullshit.

It says the combined weight of occupants and cargo should not exceed

Sorry, but I call BS on this one. They designed a throwback vehicle that they were hoping would appeal to the mass market. And it did.

If they were just interested in the very tiny segment of actual rock crawlers or dune jumpers, they wouldn't have rolled it out the way they did.

Ford is smart enough to know that 90% (or more) of this vehicle's buyers will be doing boring, normal activities (like camping) with it.
Bronco Dave is right. 190,000 reservations is not a niche vehicle. Lamborghini’s are niche. Dune buggy’s too. But not Broncos. They are mainstream.

Judging by the tires and stitching on the seat this appears to be a BL SAS two door. The 816 pounds is the payload and the sticker will say “passengers and cargo should not exceed” 816. So a 2 door BL SAS, the heaviest 2 door, is going to allow for two 200 pound adults and 416 pounds of gear, or a 3500 pound trailer and 66 pounds of gear. Could be worse but I’m starting to think all the JLU over landers significantly exceed their GVWR and nobody seems to care.

The soccer mom goes to the mall in her Outer Banks Bronco, with her average 1.93 children. The shopping list includes Forever 21, Bath and Body Works, and Foot Locker. If Mom stops at Starbucks on her way out of the mall after feeding 1.93 children lunch at the food court, will the Bronco be overweight? If mom skips the food court, and Starbucks is there sufficient GVWR to do Grocery Shopping on the way home?

What I’m saying, is wheels, tires and some skid plates closed the gap that much. It probably weighed 4,200-ish stock. Pretty shitty payload capacity is par for the course on these vehicles.

Ah, I see the confusion. Some folks are confusing my usage of 'niche' as a noun with using it as an adjective, in hindsight a poor choice of wording perhaps. Per Google dictionary; Noun definition- a specialized segment of the market for a particular kind of product or service. That segment is, relative to most vehicles, hard core off-roading. Adjective definition; denoting products, services, or interests that appeal to a small, specialized section of the population.)*

The intent was to convey that the Bronco is design focused to be better as a more hard core off-road vehicle then on road or family overlanding vehicle and suffers correspondingly at those things due to its fairly specialized and relatively narrow focus equipment.

*Some people get hung up on the connotation of small, even though 190k reservations out of around 17 million cars and light trucks sold yearly in the US on average is only 1.1% and if only half of reservations are sold... Half a percent seems small or a niche number to me anyway, certainly not mainstream, but I digress...

Sorry if this was mentioned already, didn't read all 11 pages.
As far as weight be a problem on a FE. According B & P you can add a winch on the front but not a roof rack or trailer hitch. A little confused on this one ?
