Right...but the bumper is flush w/the grill...fits flat on the frame horns. I u look at my jeep above it sticks out by the same amount, just boxed. I dont really see any other way to do it, or any disadvantage of doing it that way. I do like the way it appears the winch plate can be removed easy enough!
agreed about the plate, that's a bonus. It just looks like the winch is in a vulnerable place, and could potentially limit approach and/or drop offs. I might change my mind seeing it in the real world, but it sure looks like there is room below the top edge of the bumper and recessed.

My biggest problem with living in the salty environment of Hawai’i is the fact that the winch is spooled with 80 feet of galvanized steel wire rope instead of synthetic. Again FORD showed us some thing we couldn’t actually purchase from them like their video showing a winch with synthetic rope. Personally I’ll probably pass and look at adding a winch later And possibly changing up the front bumper.
