This will be a replacement for our Disco II, and will for the most part cover the same duties that did. Mainly for transporting the dogs (we have 2 Leonbergers) or hauling supplies to the barn for our horse.

I had an Element years ago that we bought new when they came out and put on over 100k miles before we had to put a bullet in it (Something I regret every day...). So I want to have that same ease of clean out and since the Base doesn't come with the vinyl seats and drains I guess I'll be going with the Black Diamond or Badlands. Still deciding between the 2 and 4 door since in both the Element and the Disco the rear seat are always folded down (or removed in the case of the Element).

We live near Chicago and have a small property in WI so the 4x4 comes in handy in the winter.

Big Bend, my intentions are light (maybe maybe medium) off-roading, mainly to get to remote camping in MT, WY, CO, UT, AZ. I live in MN so getting through the snow will actually be fun.

Yes is my daily driver.
*cough* consider NM too *cough*

2 door base manual, would buy Squatch if I could get it with the manual.
It will replace my 2017 base model 4 cylinder, 5 speed, 4x4 Tacoma, which has been used to haul dirtbikes, pull trailers, and has been used offroad more than most people's jeeps. The yota got wheeled in 15 different states from swampy Florida to over 13k feet in the Rockies, and some pretty demanding trails along the way, often getting wheels off the ground or climbing inclines that are difficult to walk up.
I had 33" tires and no lockers but the factory traction control worked pretty well.
My bronco will see some pretty serious offroad several times a year, often in the middle of a multi-thousand-mile road trip across the continent. If I can't order my manual base model with lockers, I'll install some myself as soon as the warranty is out.
33" tires will be installed on the way home from the dealer.
If the Bronco doesn't hold up to the abuse, I'll go back to a Tacoma, but hopefully a higher trim level with a v6 and rear locker.

With all this discussion of trims, options, and prices, There's a lot of hamsters running around in peoples heads thinking about what they're going to go with. I see people asking questions about should I get (insert) trim with these options or this trim with these options. Now this is good, we're thinking about what we want to spend our hard earned money on, but lets take a minute and think about our needs and intended use of the Bronco.

Now I'm not trying to bash anyone here, but lets be honest with ourselves. How many of us are going to spend $50k-$60k on a totally optioned out off-road trim and go out to the trails to beat on it like it's a 30 year old Toyota? For a lot of people this will be their first off-road vehicle, and off-road has many different definitions depending on who you are. We all might have intentions of going to Rubicon or Moab to tackle the toughest trails, but in reality fire roads and mild dirt trails that sedans can get by on will probably be the extent for the average person. Now before you hardcore off-roaders flip tables, yes I'm aware there are some people out there that will push the limits, but they will most likely be a small majority.

I'm not trying to talk anyone out of buying what they want, just trying to start a discussion about what YOUR intended use and needs are and how they align with the trim/options you have in mind.
This is precisely why I am heavily considering the OBX now. If I can get rear lockers on it, and the technology I will be quite happy with the off roading I can do on that. Maybe down the road I will make some changes/additions, but that will be future me's problem haha

Im not spending 50k, im either gonna be basesquatchin it or BD with lockers. Low 40k tops. And i will be offroading every day doing a 30 degree dirt hill climb then a decent when i return. Other than that its town runs a couple days a week, beach on the weekend, camping every so often, and maybe a half day of trail offroading every few weeks. I will be pushing its limits in sand and dirt and mud. Not much rocks likely. You need a rockbouncer for the ones we got here. My daily driver is my comanche farm truck, and my wifes future work is uncertain with her reluctance to go back to framing houses post cancer. If she does go back to that stuff she will likely keep driving the 96 since it has the room for tools and lumber. If she goes for other opportunities we shall see.

So the new bronco will be our vehicle we drive when we go somewhere together. Maybe after a V8 SAS my AMC eagle we will go offroading with her and the kids in the Bronco and me and the boys and dogs inthe eagle.

Realistically, it'll see some minor local trails 1 time a month and used as a daily. It'll be the coolest car in the publix parking lot tho.

Absolutely! I was quick to name a few in the Rockies. I have traveled many a time from CO to Albuquerque to AZ. Have stayed at that Route 66 Casino Hotel west of Albuquerque - Johnny Rockets restaurant!

Wheels are going to be off the ground only 5 percent of the time, max. The rest of the time, I will be be commuting from Denver to Cambodia, so I need heated and air conditioned seats.
All that being said, I can probably get away with big bend with the mid package.

FE, 4” lift, 37s at least, winch, lights, half the accessories, RTT, angry eyes. No off-roading though, wouldn’t want to scratch it.

I'm daily driving, but would like to hit some easy trails, but no heavy rock crawling. I had always wanted to do something in my jeep. I'd be interested in hitting some dunes also, that looks really fun.

I mainly want a fun vehicle to drive around in all kinds of weather and circumstances, saving miles and wear & tear on my other car. It will be really fun to drive with most of the top removed and back windows out.

Buying this to replace all but two motorcycles. The dog has not figured out how to ride and the weather in the PNW is not conducive to riding. A convertable on the other hand is a great way to enjoy the views, not as good as a bike. At this age in life, dogs are more important than motorcycles.

Too be honest my tacoma will get me to any trailhead, any back country camping spot, hell it carries my mountain bikes hell of a lot easier than probably the Bronc but as a kid who grew up mostly without his father, my fading memories of him picking me up in his 1973 Bronco and. Heading out to the farm to run gravel roads and chase cattle will always be some of my fondest memories. So for me it’s more nostalgia than hardcore off road use, it’s about holding onto that young kid and the excitement of hanging with the old man one last time...
It’s Bronco or bust for me
