I have a friend who's an engineer at Ford and he believes they always over engineer their trucks.
Of course, that was speaking of F150, 250, 350, and larger trucks.
The only thing that makes me more nervous than anything on the Bronco is the longevity of the engines on the Bronco. I'm concerned about the complex IFC - Integrated Front Cover, not to mention the dual turbos on the 2.7 L engine, which could be troublesome after a while

IFC acts as a structural member that connects the major components of the engine. With its integrated water pump, oil passages for cam phasing, oil cooler, oil filter, and accessory drive components, the IFC arrives at the plant preassembled, streamlining the production process.

Streamlining the production doesn't always translate to reliability and ease of repair and maintenance for the customer.

The link provided is from 2015. It was re-engineered in 2018. The 2.7 and 10 speed is a proven power train. Not sure about the 2.3/7 speed, but that is not going to be an issue for me...

Well idk if this helps at all but I owned a 2013 gti and a 2015 wrx that I beat the ever living crap out of and both ended up having issues because of it and yes that was all my fault but I now have a 2018 f150 with the 2.7 and the 10 speed auto that I also beat on pretty rough and this thing hasn’t had a single issue for now 50,000 miles . If your scared of forced induction motors then your cutting out a massive margin of today’s vehicles from your potential buying list, turbos have come a long way in longevity and when not tuned to 35 psi and red lined constantly will be reliable for the vast majority of the ownership . Consistent maintenance and common sense will keep it running for a long time , besides if a turbo does burn out at 100,000 miles it sucks but it’s not the end of the world to replace

Not looking to start a Chevy vs Ford race war. Just here for some honest input and guidance as I am admittedly apprehensive about, not only owning my first brand new vehicle, but my first Ford at that. I always said the only vehicle to turn me away from Chevy would be the revival of a Bronco. And here we are.

A little background. My only experience with Ford is having a little brother who bought a 2013 focus and has had a nightmare with their customer service while dealing with many a recall. While I know the Focus is a wildly different vehicle than the Bronco, I'm just wondering what i can expect from the customer service side of things beyond this isolated experience. And I'm also curious about Fords reliability from actual previous owners as I've had pretty good luck with my GM vehicles. In other words I need someone to tell me its gonna be alright...

Thanks.
I've owned a 2013 Focus ST for 7 1/2 years and it's been great. There were a couple of recalls that were handled easily at different dealers. I move around a lot and have taken my Focus ST to dealers in MA, FL, VT & HI. I have found Ford dealers everywhere to be helpful & speedy.

I've owned 11 new vehicles and am excited to get my new Bronco and have zero concerns about Ford quality or dealer service.

I’m a diehard Chevy truck guy aswell I have a 14 Silverado and a Kodiak and a 89 k5 with an LS. (I have too many toys) but I too was hart broken when the new fake blazer came out so no way I’m getting that. I do a ton of miles for work (sales) so I get a daily like every 2 years had a bunch of escapes and equinox’s over the years. Last 2 years I’ve had a Ford Flex 3.5 eco boost awd put 160k miles on it in under 3 years and no issuse, tons of power and I love it. It’s not the best looking but great daily and load the kids it. For me the bronco is a toy that I can daily. Me and my wife also had JKs when that body style first came out so I’m not against a jeep. But Ford nailed it with the retro look here and I’m all in for this new bronco.

There are ford employees over on the Blue Oval Forums. On that site they've stated that the Bronco line will have their A team on it.... they feel fully confident in the rollout compared to what happened with the Explorer.

They were slightly improved in 2018, but the basic engine architecture and design is the same. They all combine the water pump with bunch of other components (see IFC below). If you have to replace the water pump the entire front of the engine will have to be removed (as you see in the picture). Very expensive and very labor intensive to repair.

Here are the links for Bronco engines:

Well GM has now fell into a tie with FCA in plants in the USA, FORD has the most and the most Autoworkers in the US

GM has continued to close US Plants and Open Chinese ones. GM is now concentrating on China as their main market. Some Auto industry idiots say well those plants were making sedans and they aren't selling anymore ...what idiots...FORD and FCA retool their factories to make crossovers, Trucks etc..so that's just a copout. The bottom line is slowly GM is moving their production to China.

The Bronco is made in Michigan, and is said to have the highest US Made parts component of any vehicle..unless you get the manual (which may turn out to be made in china or at least a portion of them.

I'm not buying Chinese if I can help it

I was the opposite I have have always driven Fords, except for two cars and have had a good experience with them. I've owned a Ranger, F-150(s), Explorer, Mustang(s), Thunderbird, Escort, and even a Probe. Service has always been acceptable when I went to the dealer and the only recall that I ever had to deal with was the airbags from Takata(sp?) but that was a simple half day fix.

The only real major issue I ever had with a Ford was a cracked intake manifold on one of my Mustangs. But that was my fault for using NoS coupled with it being a composite plastic......

Suffice to say I would have no qualms about recommending Ford to someone based on my experience.

Good to go. Ranger line has been up and running for a couple of years, Warren Assembly is a top notch plant and as others have mentioned, the Bronco is new, but most of the parts are coming from a proven parts bin. I have had 17 new Fords and owned Toyota, Chevy and Dodge. Other than my ridiculously reliable 77 dodge (1 alternator and one set of brakes in 170K miles) my Ford vehicles have been solid. I have friends that have put over 200k miles on their Mustangs and F150s with only regular maintenance and rebuilding rear diffs. Anything can have a problem, but I don't think the Bronco is any more likely than anything else to have an issue.

I have 2013 fusion with ecoboost and 120k on it. It seeps oil from every gasket on the motor. I have to run high milage oil with antileak added to keep the seep in check. I have got about 6 recalls that the dealer always claims don't apply to me. It used to randomly stall driving through or pulling out of a parking lot after a hot restart. Very dangerous, no recall on that tho....I did figure out how to replace a $10 fuel pressure sensor that the dealer wanted $600 to replace to remedy the stall issue.
I have a 2007 GMC Yukon Denali with 240k on it and the rear main seal leaks a bit.

I've owned several fords (both new and used) and they have all been good vehicles. Time to time there may be an issue but it is the same way with other brands I have owned. I think overall the Ford trucks I have owned were some of the best vehicles I have owned maintenance wise. I can see the Bronco having some things recalled due to being new and being made during Covid but I'm sure Ford will make it right like with any recall.

I have a friend who only buys Chevys and he has trouble with his cars all the time and will happily get them fixed, but if he hears about a Ford with an issue they are prices of junk!! Lol

the most reliable cars can have issues
its a head game

I will say that I want a Bronco that was built in the middle of the shift during a long run without any line issues or COVID temp. workers. Lol
