If you prefer a tent to a "tent trailer", check out the trailers towed behind motorcycles. They're not high or very wide. So, if you rock crawl or trail run in the forest through brush and limbs, the trailer won't get tore up or get in the way. Plus light to tow.

This one is at top of my list:

https://www.braxtoncreek.com/model/bushwhacker-plus-teardrop

The 17 FD floor plan. Room for the wife and I and our remaining kid and probably a friend. Plus, most importantly, it has a bathroom for the girls for night-time potty needs. Local dealer even has them and is listed at $12,999 new. Empty weight listed at 2240. Weekend load in should put it around 2600. Bronco should be fine!
If only that was a little shorter to fit in my garage it would be about perfect.

Excellent topic. I’ve been doing a lot of research on overland trailers and these are the ones that are currently blowing my hair back.

https://offgridtrailers.com/
Check out the Expedition and the Pando

https://overkillcampers.com/
Check out the S.O.5.10 (it has a mechanical slide)

https://www.hivecampers.com/
Awesome design

https://bb-rv.com/product/2020-mission-overland-summit/
Mission Overland trailers (their website is being reworked). But here is the trailer for sale

https://boreascampers.com/blog/wild-overland-announces-new-trailer-xt12/
The XT12 looks awesome but pricey

https://boreascampers.com/blog/wild-overland-announces-new-trailer-xt12/
Another good alternative

They all are pretty close to Bronco weight range depending on the final number.

My key criteria would be weight, the ability to store it in my garage, 4 season, little to no wood in construction and ideally I’d like it to be able to sleep 4 inside (my kids are too young to sleep up in a roof top tent).

The overkill, mission and Boreas are top of my list.

There’s also a good forum called Expedition Portal that discusses this exact topic.

Cheers
I have the same criteria. I’d like to have the option to sleep 4 inside. Kids will like the RTT but also want the security of being inside from time to time. Seems like some kind of small bunk or suspended rack would be feasible option in a trailer, but I’m having a hard time finding this configuration. I did find this one - https://tetonx.com/hybrid but not sure about the quality or company.

I can't imagine paying more for a trailer than for the Bronco... Just me.
My thoughts as well. Might as well buy 2 broncos and you will have enough room for everything

Anyone have experience or comments on the Intec Luna Rover ? Looks like it’s could handle maintained FS roads and folks seem to like the Intec brand. I am able to get one new in with two week wait time. Any thoughts ?
I don't have the Luna, but I do have an Intech Flyer Pursue. The Luna is ~3 " too tall for my garage door and the Flyer looks more the part for matching to a Jeep type vehicle. Have only had it for 1 summer (maybe ~5 trips out with it) and so far am happy with it. Gets a LOT of attention at campgrounds, gas stations, restaurant parking lots etc. Cannot count how many people have come up to ask about it and/or just stop their car and take a picture of it. Quality seems better than most big manufacturers - no squeaks/rattles/random screws popping out after going down a dirt road. Also has options to make it more offroad worthy (lift kit, AT tires).

Msged boreas and they got back to me saying the xt 12 has a dry weight of 3500 so it looks like bronco won't be able to tow it :/

Weird since their site says it will be under "Under 3000 lbs dry weight".

Maybe it changed but in the spec sheet it also says 3500.
Sux cuz I really liked it. Looks like mission overland is the winner in my book.

We rented an Airstream 16' Basecamp for our trip to Colorado to see the 2021 Bronco. So far it has been a piece of cake to tow. 3500 pounds behind a JKU with 3:21 gears. You will have a lot of intelligent, seemingly knowledgeable people present arguments all over the place on the ability/safety of the Jeep to tow that trailer.

All I can tell you is that in the real world we towed it from sea level in Florida to over 8000 feet in Breckinridge Colorado. We dodged one possum and one idiot Prius. We have had huge winds, large semis, steep hills, etc. Some would say that the tongue weight is too high. Others that we are not geared properly. But you know what.... it towed fine. Sure, it would be nice to have more power, more torque, a higher tow rating, but in the real world it worked just fine. We never felt that it was unsafe or was going to start swaying. We took the proper precautions and installed an electronic brake controller. It has an anti-sway attachment. We drove reasonably.

I'm not worried about the Bronco handling 3500 lbs at all. In fact, I believe it will be perfectly safe to handle more. YMMV.

What size tires are you running? Is it an auto or manual?

That Basecamp has a nice towing profile. Rounded leading edge. Curved roof with A/C on backside downward slope of roof. Trailer height not significant taller than the tow vehicle. Looks like a nice setup.

This is what we'd probably go with : https://www.braxtoncreek.com/model/bushwhacker-plus-teardrop The 17 FD in particular.

Still waiting patiently on B & P!

What was your impression of the Bronco?
