The present rated towing capacity of 3,500 lbs (yes, it may go higher for certain model/options) narrows the choices for a top-quality, overlanding camping trailer. There may be ideal, but not inexpensive products coming into market just in time, well suited for the BRONCO.

Have my eye on the OPUS Lite (https://www.opuscamper.us/lite/) arriving in September with a rugged chassis, independent suspension and articulated hitch.

The specs seem custom-tailored to the BRONCO:
  • Dry Weight: 2,380lbs
  • Gross Vehicle Weight Rating: 3,527lbs

What other solutions do you have in mind?
Someone a block away from me has an Opus 4. The other night, as my wife and I were walking the dog, we walked by and she casually says to me, “so... you gonna get one of those to go with your new Bronco?” I *immediately* found the Opus Lite. I’m sold!

For something like this, do you negotiate at all with the dealer, or do they have more set price due to demand?

Full disclosure: I haven't bought one before. However, while researching and talking to friends, you absolutely negotiate. There seems to be a fair amount of room for discussion. 10-20% seems to be normal based on initial price and market demand.

I have an Xventure, really nice trailer and the company builds it the same as their military trailers. Lightweight since it's aluminum (1800lb), has water tank, power, sink, propane and the open bed can be used as a regular trailer if needed.

Awesome setup! For me all I would need is that clamshell rooftop camper on my Bronco and I'd be set.

Right now I would say my pick for what I want to do (want hard shell with AC for 2 people) is the Forest River Flagstaff E-Pro E15TB. weighs in at 2483 lb. dry so that gives me 1000 lb payload to mess with. Does no good to get something close to 3500 dry if that is the final number.

I also plan on renting out my camper in the near future to provide others the opportunity to travel to those epic spots and have the creature comforts upon arrival.

I like my e pro 16bh, got the off road package so it sits a bit higher. Just hope the 4 dr bronc can get bumped up a tad.

I was looking at the Bean trailers, love them. Seem perfect for what I want, but my husband likes the rooftop tents.
Yep. The Bean is cooler... but the Tent is much cheaper!

The Conqueror Trailers are really nice and capable. The top end trailers are really nice. Just on the edge of towing capacity for the top end.

Controversial opinion... but you know that I am right:

If you want to do a lot of overloading (meaning getting to remote places but with roads good enough that you could actually pull a trailer), you are better off with a different vehicle that is more comfortable for longer stretches at higher speeds and has higher towing capacity like the Explorer, which has 5,600 lbs v. 3,500 for the Bronco.

Finished up my design for a combo utility/camping trailer. Nothing real fancy. Just a solid little 4'x6' dual purpose trailer. The 1.5"x1.5" RTT rack anchors in the 2"x2" stake pockets and is removable for hauling taller items. I decided against an actual tailgate instead opting for a drop rail out back. I probably could model up the Timbren axles from their spec sheet dimensions, a Lock n Roll hitch, tongue storage box, misc. small details, etc. but since those will be purchased items I really didn't need them for this exercise.
