My dealer converted my reservation to order this October with nothing but the original $100 reservation.

Are you guys actually working with your "Dealer" or the sales guy. The Dealer is the owner, the sales guy is just that- and may not know squat about anything.

Went to test drive this mannequin today. I told the dealer that I had an order with SAC. He asked if I paid the $1000 dollars to order it, I said no, just the $100 to reserve. He said I should’ve paid 1k as that is what Ford requires. Had to show him my email saying it’s ordered.

Im not sure if he was full of it, or just didn’t know. He didn’t know what a base model was either so there’s that🤷🏻‍♂️
Anyway, it had the 2.3 and like others have said, my worry about the 4 cylinder is gone as that thing had plenty of power for me.

This is why it's so nice to interact with a dealership that's informed and/or nice. Because so many dealership employees have either only been working there for 90 days or they'll lie and say anything to get another dollar.

I was told the same thing by my dealer and I actually paid the $1,000 when I ordered (March 2021). However, it was credited (deducted) from the final selling price. Which I negotiated prior to ordering.

I took delivery October 24, 2021 with no issues. I’d suggest paying the $1,000 and negotiating your buying price at the same time. Gives you leverage and shows that you’re serious about buying.

Seeing as I not only ordered one without putting a penny more down, but also test drove one without showing a license or proof of insurance, he's absolutely full of it.

Seeing as how your employees are a direct reflection on you, and should know more about their role than the owner, no differentiation between the two here.

All I’ve put down was the initial $100 for the reservation. When I had to convert to 2022 I asked my salesman if I needed to put a deposit down since I heard others here say they had to with theirs. He said no, I only had to make any changes I wanted for MY22. Then send him the details so that he could update and Priority Code 10 my order.

I did a $100 deposit. After I received my bronco they mailed me a $100 check.

my dealer explained the $100 reservation fee but said i was welcome to put a deposit down as well. I put down $1000(100% refundable) and also traded in my 2016 GMC Canyon early as a courtesy part of the deal. He offered me a lot more for my truck than i paid for it, as well as my first set of 5 replacement KO2's when mine need replacing, 5 years of oil changes, free tire rotations for life and a loaner if my current beater car breaks down :). i bought the truck with 21k miles for $22k and he gave me $26.5k trade in on it with 50k miles. Thankfully my wife has a nice Explorer Limited so my beater car is just that until the Bronco shows up. She is considering trading it in on a brand new Explorer Limited. Also my Bronco will have a lifetime warranty on the powertrain when it comes in, offered for all new and used car purchases there. The $26.5k he gave me for the truck will still be reflected as a trade allowance and saves me $1800 in MN sales tax

Sounds like a hayseed Dealership. OR they knew you personally- either way the scenario you just described is NOT the real world. Not at all.

Nope. Fairly large dealer in a fairly large market.
And I've never once stepped foot in the store - just tossed a few emails around with their Bronco specialist.
Any other hypothesis? :)

So it's clear, I'm not saying that's remotely close to the norm, just saying OP's salesperson was full of it, and pointing out - yet again - how this whole dealer experience is SO flawed and inconsistent.
