LOD Transmission skid plate installed

Update 11-18-22. After a few months of wheeling the plates
Design is good but the weld quality is poor. Any place they welded broke. Definitely will have to rewelding this winter
Disappointed due to I like the overall fit and the minimal loss in ground clearance, was going to order the transfer case plate next.::::::::::::;::;:::::::


Just installed the LOD off-road transmission skid plate. I would definitely recommend it to anyone doing serious rock crawling in the V6 Bronco. It covers the two frame cross members that constantly get hung up on rocks. Looking forward to taking it out and being able to slide over rocks, instead of dragging the square cross member across the rocks. Ordered it 6/24 delivered 7/3 very impressed with the turn around.

How was the ease of installation with the factory engine and transfer skid plates?

Installing was very simple. You need to remove the sway bar skid if you have one. Loosen the engine skid back bolts to slide the transmission skid under. With the factory plates you end up reusing all the factory bolts. Also it replaces the sway bar skid entirely.

You sir are a lucky one. I waited over a month to get mine with zero feedback from LOD. Did you have to notch it to clear the Sta-Bar hose? I had to with mine.

I did not have to notch the brace Maybe a updated design or just a slight difference in the Bronco production.

I haven’t ran anything to challenging since adding the new skid. Still a chance to hang up on rocks going backwards but forward is smooth.

For the money it is still not a bad purchase. I am going to repair it. Update my post since I recommend it to a number of guys in the local Bronco clubs and wanted to share so they are aware. NorCal has some big granite rock trail that test skids to there limits
