We use Rage. I need to talk to Curt and see if he sanded prior to promoter then just built up a few layers of fill or what exactly they did. I know my BS manger said nothing stuck to the under side of the flare which may have something to do with the mold release agent. The paint to match feel like a different type of plastic and turned out fine, stock ones, not so much.
Yes sir. The underside is a different animal for sure.
Probably release agent.
The best way I've found to get that stuff off is wash them in as hot water as you can, then use alcohol or Acetone (be careful, it is hot and can soften thinner plastics) with some powdered dish soap (contains alkali) mixed in as a scrub.
Rinse clean, let dry completely in the sun.
Wipe with a wax and grease remover, sand, wipe again with wax and grease remover, tack off, spray your adhesion promoter, proceed onwards.

The key is heat, solvent, and alkali.

EDIT: I don't wanna hijack the OP's thread here. Sorry for so many replies..

That looks amazing, hard work, but turned out great.

Seems so long ago that the tops looking like that were part of the Ford build configurator.

Is there any concern that sanding down the roof affects its structural properties/integrity in any way?

Looks Awesome!
I would have liked to see the top on when it was all primered white, just to see how it looked.

Price was minimal I paint cars just really time consuming these tops are not ready to paint at all but with alot of sanding and priming I achieved a suitable surface to paint

Looks fantastic! What we all didn’t realize is the OP is the vendor for the ‘23 MY painted tops. He can produce one at at time, so should be able to keep up with Ford’s production line given their pace. :ROFLMAO:
Look great!
