Does anyone have any information on doing a dirt road / back road trip on the Appalachian Trail? I was hoping the FordPass Performance app would have been out by now and I would have been able to piece together an itinerary to go from PA to TN but that will never happen.

Anyways, any suggestions to putting it together?

Unless you are talking about a different AT that I'm unaware off, it's a hiking trail. Also it's mostly about a foot wide and not suitable for any sort of wheeled traffic.

You can do the Trans America Trail from VA to TN. Ive started the TN portion and going to do more of it May 7th.

As said, AT is hiking only. Now if you are looking for a similar route I can recommend the Backcountry Discovery Route. They are primarily motorcycle routes but are all public and vehicle accessible roads.

I've completed the Mid-Atlantic one (on both a MC and in a Jeep grand Cherokee) and will be doing the North east one this summer sometime.

Please contact former Governor of South Carolina Mar Sanford. He knows all the GOID spots on the Appalachian Trail.
