Looking for Tall & Skinny tires - Anyone have any leads?
For a Base:
STOCK STEEL WHEEL : 7Jx16 ET55
STOCK TIRE : 255/70R16 : Sidewall of 7.5" (30" Dia/Height)
SASQUACH TIRES : 315/70R17 : Sidewall of 8.9" (35" Dia/Height)

- TIRE SIZE IS A BIG ISSUE.
It seems as you get to 33" dia. tires - they all jump to mostly 12.50" wide or more.
I FOUND:
- 34 Dia. x 9 x R16 : Super Swamper Narrow SS TSL Tires : Tread is too agressive for daily on-road
- 37.7 Dia. x x Michelin XML : 325 x 85 x R16
- 36.3 x 6.5 x 16 x 10.4 : STA SUPER TRAXION - Nice, but could go even more narrow.

*Im willing to get a more narrow steel rim

Q: Any leads on tall skinny tires?

If you can find a 16" wheel that works, LT235/85/16 are 32" tall and 7" wide. I run them on a 66' bronco. Every tire company makes them to my knowledge.

Many of them do. The base comes with 16s.

There's also the 35x10.5x17 Kenda Klever.

Don't tell the base people that, but don't you have a base? Upgraded to 17in wheels?

Tall and skinny, there is a 255/85/17 and a 35X10.50R17. Any skinnier may be hard to find. If you still have the stock 16s, 255/85/16 might be your best option.

Tall and skinny is relative it looks like. When I picture tall and skinny, I'm thinking pizza cutters lol. When looking at the 235/85/16 be sure to look at the specs for each one you look at, they varied by 1.5" iirc.

Michelin xl/xml are 38.7

I ran them. But I bought them on military discount and I’m not sure you can get current made ones

xl 1100x16 and they are heavy. Way too stiff
I ran them 0 psi on beadlocks
They are for the USMC LAV

Interco Swamper SSR comes in 17" dia. The 35x9.5R17 looks like it would fit the bill. And its a radial which is much easier to live with than old school bias.

I ran these on my off road truck that had 16" rims and used tire balancing beads. Worked well. I never took it over 62 mph because that was the max speed of the truck.
