I went to Payson Arizona today and ended up doing some off-roading ..... we went off the map .... there was no coverage at all ... went up there for a day trip and had not planned on off-roading at all but I saw 3 Razors with some old people and followed them off the beaten path. I thought since they were old they would be playing it safe. One of the women was all gums, not a single tooth in her head. Mind you I'm not a spring chicken myself. Then I lost them and we ended up on a road that progressively got bumpier with bigger and bigger rocks and steps, and narrower .... I wanted to turn back but it was just impossible cuz it was so narrow. That's when I thought OH SHIT what did I get myself into. I thought I pinstriped the shit out it today but its not anywhere as bad as it sounded when the brush and dry branches were scraping the sides.

All I can say is this thing is fkng amazing .... it handled everything a very hard trail had to offer. I used 4A and finally 4L cuz I just had no choice. Some places the hood was pointed so high up, all I could see was sky. Thank god for that front camera!! Couple of places going 3 to 4 mph were so scary I thought we were gonna flip over for sure, cuz the trail was not only pointing up , it was slanted to the side as well. In 4L I spun the tires and the car fishtailed and I thought we were gonna flip and roll down the ledge on our left, but it hugged the path and kept going.

Hill Descent came in extremely handy and was great to use for a first-timer. Just used the controls on the steering wheel to adjust the descent between 1 and 5 mph. Believe me when I tell you this trail was hard and dangerous, and its not because I'm a novice at it. I've been off-road with others and know the difficulty levels of trails. Anytime you feel like the hair on the back of your neck standing up, you know you're in it DEEP. The dumbest part was going on that kind of a trail alone, and not in a group. Just me and my daughter with the pooch in the back.

I was ranked on by some for getting a Mall Crawler OBX, but after today I KNOW I got an extremely capable machine that could get someone like me out of a unintended jam.

HOLY SHIT, what a day! Be safe out there!

Undoubtedly there will be some BLs that endeavor to surmount nothing more than Starbucks parking lots. And then there are folks like you and broncos like your OBX that challenge artificial limitations, naive assumptions and preconceived notions about which broncos can deliver and which can not. You and the loyal OBX are trail-rated. well played sir!

Cool story! The exact kind of story that makes you want a bronco even more than you already do. I just switched my build from OBX to Black Diamond but your story is making me second guess giving up adaptive cruise lol

Love everything about this. I couldn’t be happier with everything the OBX is capable of doing.
Enjoy the ride !

That sounds like quite the Starbucks drive-thru… :ROFLMAO:

Glad you made it out safely though!
Haha 😆

“And then the barista handed us our mocha lattes and we made it safely back to the freeway.”

I totally agree. I just switched my order to Black Diamond as I don’t need the stabilizer bar disconnect. However, stories like this has me thinking about an obx or a wildtrak for the high package. The Bronco will be a bigger vehicle in the front end than my jeep, so I may want the 360 camera……decisions decisions

Unless you go rock crawling I really dont think you need the stabilizer bar disconnect or even the front lockers

following toothless hillbilly types out in the desert on a whim when you have no cell phone coverage. Don't all horror and porno (and combination) movies start like that?
We saw a white ford van parked in the middle of nowhere with aluminum tin foil on all the windows except the windshield .... i have no idea how it got there .... I mean it looked so out of place (DELIVERENCE) .... that creeped out my daughter ... she asked me if i had my sidearm and I told her not to worry, we have a loaded cannon in the back!

But you went off road when so many others never will. It's not a mall crawler if you use it for what it's built for.

I ordered a BL SAS to meet the most demanding and terrifying needs that bring grave consequences of not being satisfied.

My wife said "you promised be a Bronco when you sold my '96 and now I want that one!" If it never touches dirt dirt I'll be happy because she will be happy. After thirty plus years I've learned my lesson. :)
