Looks like Matt's Off Road Recovery has partnered with Yankum Ropes to create Matt's Recovery Rope. For $250 it seems like a fair deal for a 30' rope, soft shackle, and bag. It saves ~$50 off of the same package from Yankum's web site. There are certainly cheaper options out there, but seeing the abuse Matt and his team put these ropes through, I decided to pull the trigger on the deal.

Any thoughts from ya'll with experience with kinetic energy ropes?

Disclosure: I have nothing to do with Matt's Off Road Recovery. I'm just a fan of the channel.

I watch Matt's and I bought a kinetic rope about a year ago.. At the time Factor 55 was less than Yankum.
Factor 55 makes some nice gear! Looks like the deal for Matt's comes in just a smidge cheaper than Factor 55 right now.

NOOB here---what is the purpose of the "Soft shackle"?

The rope has protected loops, I wouldn't hang it over a bumper or frame, but would a regular steel shackle be harmful?

I think primarily, soft shackles are lighter and safer. In addition, they can be wrapped around odd shapes and are quicker to setup.

On the downside, they are more expensive and prone to damage from sharp objects.

All this plus they float in water

$250? It’s $295 now.
Yeah, unfortunately it was a temporary discount for early "backers" that was set to expire yesterday. Here is a screenshot from when I ordered mine...

Enjoy watching but I think they are getting a little proud of themselves. Can get the same thing from a company that has been around ropes and making marine lines for decades for $100 less.

Doesn't have the Youtube star name on it though for the Sheeple
Once you add in the cost of a soft shackle and bag it ends being more than the "backer" price. This "Sheeple" got a better deal than you're presenting all without being condescending.

Btw, the jerk store called...

Thoughts on 30' versus 20' on the recovery rope from those who have used it? Does the 30' really provide that much more advantage?

Kinetic Rope vs. Tow Strap - if you could only carry one which would it be?
