I don’t get it....
Doesn’t Ford already produce a midsize truck?

scrap this damn thing and make more Broncos...
I thought it was Bronco Sport sized, small unibody pickup. Not sure who would need that though. Consumers not buying sedans led to this 😂

may not be my cup of tea but I bet Ford does well with it.

With the size increase of the ranger compared to what the 80's and 90's mini trucks were this think looks like a actual continuation of that line to some extent.

I do not hate the styling or looks for what will probably be a very nice riding truck. If it can haul and tow even close to our broncos or at least more towing in the 4-5k range this will sell a lot I think.

It is built on the same platform and in the same plant as the Bronco Sport. Basically the Ranger equivalent of the Sport.

Why are we comparing this to the old Ranger? Old Ranger had body on frame construction, rear wheel drive and a solid rear axle. This is more apt to be compared to the Escape.

I can’t see any consumer of the old Ranger giving 2 thoughts to this. Possibly fleets, but not general consumers of small trucks. I say that as someone that has a 99 Frontier which is slightly bigger than the old Ranger and as someone that had the 80s GM mini trucks.

Just like mid size cars are now as big as full size cars from the past, trucks have done the same thing. Ford feels there is a market for a vehicle that is actually the size the ranger used to be. I can't argue with them.
Is this the same size as the previous gen Ranger? Looks a lot bigger to me...about the same as the current Ranger. Maybe it's the 4-door throwing me off. I thought it would be more compact truck size.

I'm definitely not a fan of this new Maverick. I know it's not fully unveiled yet but I don't understand why Ford needs to make yet another pickup truck. We already have different cab sizes for the F150, they brought back the Ranger (which also has different cab sizes) and the Super Duty models. Do we TRULY need another pickup truck?? It looks exactly like a Ridgeline (and those trucks are horrendous).
