From what I've read, it sounds like more of a delivery/work truck than anything. Not sure how excited I'd get about it. Think Transit Connect pick up truck.
Looking at the above photo, the short, steep sloped hood looks very Transit Connect-ish.

I hope not. That’s what’s wrong with the ridgeline. It looks like a crossover not a truck. Make it look like a parts truck and call it a day Ford

The market needs a small and cheap truck. Ranger and Tacoma are bloated and impractical for basic work. Tiny bed, chest high bed rails, and prices similar to the F150. I loved my mid 90s ranger, and before that my early 90s Toyota.
Im betting that any future pickup that is smaller than the current midsize trucks will totally miss the mark. I'm picturing unibody SUVs with 4 doors a 3 foot bed. I'm picturing styling that is very car like, more feminine than the Ridgeline. I'd be interested in a modern version of the 2000s ranger, just a small, simple, and cheap truck... The new ranger is none of that.

Rumors are turning out to be true. A Ford Bronco Sport truck. According to a leak could be called the Ford Maverick (possibly Courier Or Ranchero)
They really need to call it the Ranchero, not the Maverick or Courier. Remember the great Ford Ranchero vs Chevy El Camino, they were both much loved trucklettes.

I’m wondering if there could be different names for different markets.

courier for Europe, Maverick for Australia and Ranchero for USA. But I doubt it.

Maverick is a global name. And goes along with the Bronco theme. (Horses)

And if they were going to use the Ranchero name I would want a mustang platform truck. Not focus.

Also pretty much everything from 1972-1999 looks and is crap. Very few exceptions.

Historically, Ranchero's, horses and Bronco's go together quite nicely.

Leaving this here-

Leaked: 2022 Ford Maverick Truck? Could This Be the Next Ford Ranger or Bronco-Based Pickup?
April 30, 2020

What can this be? A 2022 Ford Maverick pickup truck? Here is an exclusive look at a 3-d model of a tailgate with large MAVERICK stamped into it. TFLtruck received this model from an anonymous source with insider knowledge.

Ford Maverick
The source says the the dimensions of this tailgate match a truck like the current midsize Ford Ranger. The source calls this future truck a “baby version of the Ford Raptor”.

2022 Ford Maverick
If the dimensions of this tailgate are on the smaller size, it rules out the new 2021 F-150. The Maverick could be a special off-road trim for the Ford Ranger, but it could also be a whole new pickup truck that is based on the Ford Bronco or the Bronco Sport platforms. It can also be a version of what is rumored to be the next Ford Courier mini-truck.

In any case, this tailgate image shows a large oval logo in the center with a cutout for what is likely to be a rear-view camera. Also the top of the tailgate shows several cuts and creases that may be hiding a tailgate step or an extra folding section.

Leaks on this thing everywhere. Sounds really cool.
over the weekend a leaked document shows a truck is getting build with the Bronco Sport in Mexico. Rugged and truck looking.

Ford & Volkswagon announced months ago they were building a vehicle together. The Maverick is going to be a front wheel drive small pickup based on the Escape AKA Bronco sport. Or it will be built at a VW plant, based on a VW car. Then sold through Ford Dealers.
