Great information. Regarding the NAPA unit, any issues with laying it on its side?

Wired a 70 psi pressure shutoff and put a standard Milton coupler so I could use my own air lines vs theirs (I guess is a Japanese style?). We'll see how it holds up. Noticed the stock electrical had some exposed wire strands....

So did anyone successfully mount one of these under the hood. Custom mount. I'm hopefully a week or 2 away from having my bronco.

You can't. It's NOT DESIGNED to go under the hood. This is a PORTABLE air compressor. Not only will it not fit, it's structually NOT DESIGNED for under the hood, where it's hot. You need a compressor that can handle the abuse of an engine bay (like the ARB). You can't just buy a portable and stick it under the hood or in any enclosed space. That's how things get damaged.

DO NOT install portable air compressor under your hood you are risking something catching fire. Only use this as a portable air compressor.

I will second this, the wiring isn't great to begin with. If it does short and catch fire, I want it to short and catch fire outside of my $50k new vehicle.

Here is the video comparing to arb, its in a toyota truck.
I mean they made a nice video. But just goes to show you, don't believe everything you see on the internet. That NAPA compressor should not be installed in the engine bay.

It's a $114 air compressor, with no warranty. No real data is available on the compressor and it's design is that of a portable compressor made from plastic.

I mean, do the math :) What do you think is going to happen to it.

I agree. I may pick one up to be a portable unit. If I find myself getting into offroad frequently, I'll invest in an arb setup.

I second not mounting under the hood. I bought one because at the price point I could have like 5 fail before reaching the price of the ARB unit. So far so good with it but I don't trust it to hard mount in the engine bay.
