I'm a little confused about whether we're talking front or back seats. For the FJ, the rear seats had a hard plastic / rubbery-ish surface (based on memory). The seating surfaces were all cloth across all trim levels. My Trail Teams had water / stain resistant treatment applied from the factory. Overall a tough interior for one trimmed out in cloth. The back of the front seats was cloth.
Ok thanks, i forgot if they had cloth seats i just remembered they had rubberized rear seat backs.

hopefully MY22 addresses the carpeted rear seat backs, and i guess if the front sides have carpet and if that’s pretty common, I’m guessing this won’t be any different in the future.

wash out does not mean spray gallons of water over your seats, have you ever seen the inside a boat seat, it's gross. Water will get in the seams and get into the foam and that can take forever to dry out.
so I guess using the pressure washer is out of the question.

All this talk about carpeted rear seat back…after a month I’m just realized there’s carpet on inside of the driver and passenger front seats too…WTF is the point of that?

I hadn’t seen this mentioned before. Now, that’s just straight idiotic.
Can you send a picture, I can't seem to see this in any video. I don't recall it from my test drives.

Overall the FJ interior is comparable with the Bronco. Some quality materials on seats. Hard plastics on touch surfaces (durable though). Non-touch surfaces using lower quality plastics. Some of the non-touch surfaces are close enough to touch surfaces that you get scratches. Same with my Tacoma.

I'm not too wrapped up about the carpet on the seat backs, but I know others are concerned. I'll rarely be open air, so other than roof leaks mine will stay buttoned up. I treat my equipment well but I do use it. My FJ had some scratches on vertical surfaces in the rear because I make use of the 'U' in SUV. When it is service project time, my power miter saw and other tools get put in the the back.

thats great except its a wash out interior and the rear trunk area is wash out....
It is not a "wash out" interior. You can't stand back and start spraying. The surfaces are cleanable and you can rinse the floors with a small stream of water from the hose. No way you should be hosing down the seats...forgive me if I am not understanding your concern. A vacuum will work fine on the carpeted areas.

Sorry for the delay. Busy day at the shop.

It’s like a 12x6” flap of carpet sewed into the seat along the console.

I’ve hosed down the interior pretty good. The seat seams do not soak up any water. But, my main reason for desiring this type of interior is dog hair. I’d prefer if there was zero carpet.

Agree with you here after seeing these pics. I'd prefer there not be any carpet at all in my Badlands.

Not that I want to take a full force hose of water to my interior, but my Bronco will be very dusty; a lot, so not having to clean carpet material is ideal.

Hope that guy who wrote that the carpet seat backs won't be in the 2022 is accurate. Just put some rubberized stuff on the back of the seats, particularly in the 2 Dr since it won't have power seats either.

Not trying to be a jerk here but people have some crazy expectations of the bronco and most of them are from never owning this type of vehicle before. I agree you aren’t supposed to really “hose out” the inside of it. Spraying out the floors??? Yes. Spraying off the seats….. no. The carpet on the side is to help quell speaks and rattles and the carpeted back shouldn’t pose a serious threat to cleaning referring back to you aren’t really supposed to hose it out. My gt350 has leather and suede seats and they didn’t use cloth on the console side and every time I get in it and the seat moves I get greeted with 5-10 seconds of fart sounds.
Guess you're not supposed to take it topless to the beach either. In Florida, it's common to get drenched by surprise rain showers. Guess it was silly of me to think that "wash out interior" with MGV upholstery and sealed switches meant it would be OK to take topless to the beach.

I believe that the rubberized seatbacks available on the Badlands Sport are snap on. There is still carpet underneath. Good for protecting your seatbacks, but you'd want to be very careful to not get water underneath. If you did, you'd want to remove the rubberized seatbacks to let them dry out to avoid mold and mildew from growing underneath. I wouldn't be surprised if Ford is planning something similar for the full size.
