update: have taken it to a friend who is a mechanic and the two options ford will have are "keeping my car for a while for a fix or ripping it off or you figuring out how to deal with it"

I hope it works. If you find that a washer is needed, the flat washer could be swapped for a wave washer. That would put some outward pressure on the latch.
I was just thinking about that... It seems that a wave washer could help that out without "popping", but who knows, I'm still waiting for mine.

I owe you guys an update on this. At some point I started getting a few random pops, not like it was, but not silent. So I read some other threads and ended up putting 2 wraps of electrical tape around the locating pin. Its been silent for months now.

Posted this in another thread but since this thread has been resurrected:

I bought these vinyl vacuum caps from O'Reillys and installed the black ones on the front pins near the b-pillars that rub and make the popping sound. Trim to fit and so far has fixed the problem.

Yeah sorry about the resurrection, I got a like on the original post today and realized it didn't tell the whole story.

Electric tape will do the deed. All 8 of mine are now wrapped, the stupid back ones started the tap so I said fuck this and wrapped everyone.

No popping on mine however, I have one lever that seems to work its way loose from time to time. Thanks for the pics. I'll have to check that spring ball that is supposed to land in the detents.

I had the clicking sound as well. Some folks have wrapped the pins in tape, but I did this and solved the problem (y)
