I'm getting a 2-door base manual and want to protect it but don't want to waste money, what are the recommended upgrades or things to change, excluding wheels & tires as I already have those sorted out?

The parts I plan on adding right away:
- front mod flaps
- engine skid plate
- oil catch can

Later add-ons:
- running boards (to prevent door dings)

What else?

I am in Phoenix, so window tint, is #1 on my list even before replacing the minivan tires.

What tire are you going with?

Big bend take offs wheels &tires. They are full 32" but civilized for everyday driving.

what are your priorities? offroad, ride, looks, etc?

personally mine were:

function
  1. sound system upgrade, oem is trash - speakers (optional but necessary kicker key and sub)
  2. forscan. - stop the 3xhonk, seatbelt, and ass.
  3. wax or ceramic - i did it too late and got some scratches getting dirty.
  4. tint - at least for me it gets hot, but i have mgv
  5. deflector (or something to help) - welcome to the windshield destroyer.
are you sas? if not i'd say tires too (but you can wait until it's time). 33s make a world of difference for looks, offroad, and actually drive a little better.

after that you get into the offroad vs customization vs looks arena. that is all what are you doing with it. there are offroad beasts, things in the middle, and straight up show broncos here. all are great imo and i am in the middle ground.

Priorities are opposite from most of bronco buyers lol! This will be a daily driver.

I like that it's a truck based vehicle with short overall length and that it has a full size spare.

Maintaining decent fuel economy is important so I'm going to stick with lighter weight AT tires. The 32" big bend tires look about right to my eye and I like the rims better than the others.

One of the things I liked about my brothers jeep wrangler is that it never got a door ding on it. It had rubber fender flares and running boards which protected it from a-holes who swing their doors open in the parking lot! I'd like running boards primarily for this reason.

I understand that the running boards affect mud flaps installation so I think I probably have to get them at the same time so I can modify the boards and mud flaps to fit correctly. I think these two items are my priority!

A trailer hitch is also high on my list. I have a utility trailer that basically turns my daily driver into a pick up truck so when it comes time to haul something I'll want that hitch!

I think everything else would cosmetic or for fun!

First thing I did was order Katzkin leather seats and the Bestop soft top
next, some off road lights
next was tie rod splints and steering rack bushing
next was full skid plates and rock rails
next was sound, kicker key and sub
next- Midland radio
last of phase 1 was winch plate and winch

Phase 2 was body lift and 37s, along with rear steel bumper and throttle controller…that’s where I’m at today

next purchase will likely be goose gear rear plates with driver rear seat delete

Way different for all of us. Like clearing off debts, some are easy and you pick them, some are important so you pick them.

For me, keeping the windshield from breaking was important, so got film and hood deflector early.
Go Rhinos to protect the body, more from ne'er-do-wells in parking lots than the road!
But easy, hung the straps, added door vinyls.
The @IAG Performance rear struts if you have the soft top are a must.
Good fog lights.
Black lug nuts for my steelies....
so many things I've forgotten, tho' they're still on the Visa!

Do a lot of people tint thier winshield? What percent tint is common out there for front windows? Do cops hassel people for not havinf their doors on? I will probably be moving there around the December timeframe.

The darkest legal tint on driver and passenger side windows is 35% transmission. Rear sides and rear window can go as dark as you like. The ones on my Expedition are probably about 10% transmission.

Technically illegal to tint your front windshield but I'm going to do a high visibility heat rejection tint. Those are only about 5% opaque and you can't really tell it's a tint.

People go darker without being hassled. I only normally get hassled for stupid things like driving 20 over the speed limit or ignoring "no turn on red" signs.

I got a strip across the front of mine. Had the fronts match the rear to keep it consistent. In Florida you can go as dark as you can stand, no one cares. I also have a laundry list of things I have done to mine. Will get a list together at some point and post it

Thank you. This is what I was thinking of doing for the windshield. Apply something more as a thermal barrier. I would still probably do a drop as well. Even though the bronco widshield is so narrow, I am not sure a drop makes sense. LOL.

No laundry please, just the priorities!

It took me 2 years to get my motorcycle configured to a point that I was satisfied, but this isn't that type of thing.

Mud flaps because the front wheels fling rocks up at the doors, that's the type of thing I'm hoping to learn here.
