Perhaps a long-term positive: Just-In-Time manufacturing principles are critical to an efficient auto industry. The shortages seen in critical components during this pandemic will spawn corrective supply measures that should last for decades.

Off topic. But you're bound to be the coolest teacher at your school, driving up in a Bronco!
A lot of kids at my school drive Jeeps and jacked up trucks. I'm not getting SAS, so I'm sure that will disappoint a few of them.🤣

Honestly losing AFM on those trucks is probably a blessing in disguise for the customers. GM's Active Fuel Management has been problematic with piston blow-bys and collapsed lifters since the Generation III LS/Generation IV LT motors. Totally not worth the nearly negligible 1 MPG benefit at the expense of the engine's reliability.

Ford made some announcements today that it's going to keep building cars without the chips, then hold the cars until the chips come in and finish/deliver them later.

That's what Peterbilt is doing for the 567 and 579 (as well as the Kenworth T680, T880, and W990). Shipping trucks without door modules just to keep them running down the line. I can't wait to slap those in, I love taking door panels off.

Interesting, really makes me wonder what semiconductors are used in fuel management systems that got pilfered by the consumer electronics on the market.

Luckily Ford has found an expert to give everyone their estimated delivery date come May.

Parts, in general (but especially from those assholes at Cummins), have been hard to come by. It doesn't matter what it is, all halfway common parts are in very low supply. Cummins fuel pump gaskets are like gold right now.
