So, a used '23 4-door Wildsquatch with high package, soft top, and subwoofer delete, with 2700 miles, asking 11% under original sticker price. Original purchase date 4/17/23, so under factory warranty until 4/17/2026.

By comparison, two weeks ago I got a brand new '23 4-door OBX (build date Dec 2023) for 16% under sticker price. Under factory warranty until 8/24/2027.

I just find it interesting.

Don't refer to it as a Wildsquatch. It sounds dumb. The Sasquatch package is standard on the WT where as it is optional on other trims.

This is the result of continued turmoil in the used market over the past 3 years. When the new-used market is in balance there's more of a predictable spread between the two. The used book guides, IMO, have been slow to adjust to changes in days supply in any specific market. You may go on Autotrader or look up a valuation on one of the major "book" companies and it will seem good but get a trade/buy offer from a dealer many thousand dollars less.

There are a ton of factors that go into book values including average new/used transactionalI prices, days supply of like used vehicles in that market and several other calculations. I assumed the folks that paid MSRP+ in '21 and '22 when supply was low were going to do two things, one was artificially drive up trade values and two, if valuations were not this far out of whack, get destroyed when they went to trade. First one materialized, second not so much for those that traded early.

Ford obviously want's to see used values high which helps them tout high resale as well as close the gap between new and used which generally makes buying new more attractive. They make money selling new, nothing in it for them on the used side unless you factor in ESP, certification or financing. If you're at a dealer that's sitting on a ton of aged new and used broncos, chances are they got hung with trades and will be less likely to put full book value in your trade. Unless it's a very specific or desirable piece that they turn quickly, they're going to appraise for what that unit is transacting for in that market after reconditioning and markup.

Any dealers not starting at invoice, using all available rebates, dealer cash, conquest money on aged units right now is nuts. It was nuts to demand MSRP on broncos in '21 and '22 to begin with and now that the economy has slowed up and there's a ton of inventory sitting around, these are the natural consequences. Dealers aren't going to take any low ball offer but we went into the negative to get rid of a Raptor and have on back on the lot and another incoming. The folks that wanted a $90K toy have already bought one so the shine and exclusivity has worn off.

Yes, interesting how different vehicles have different prices.
the point was new vs used, or maybe you didn't read the thread title.

Were you also an expert on submersibles?

That’s the smart move. No need to buy used when new Broncos in dealer lots are selling below msrp.

"Asking" price doesn't mean much, what the Wildtrack actually sold for would be a better comparison.

Good point.

Funny thing--my OBX asking price was...16% under sticker. Right in the ad, right on the truck.

This spring I bought a 2021 2 door 4cyl auto with every other available option, upgraded bronco wheels, a rigid light bar, console safe, rear door shelf and only 16k miles for $43k. In 2021 MSRao was $54k. To buy the same car new now it is closer to $60k.
Bronco dealers around me are currently offering only $2k off MSRP.
I feel like I got a good deal used.

Curious if you know it was a mannequin? Your profile indicates a Badlands which I presume had the optional wheels. Any of them with the above listed accessories were often dealer mannequins.
