Honestly, overall I am impressed with the stock tires. They worked amazing in Moab and muddy trails in Rockies and have yet to bust a sidewall on our rocky trails here in Wyoming, Plus they are quiet. Once they wear out I will probably get a more aggressive tire like a Mickey Thompson.

See my post on upgrades for the stock tires.

True. The best remedy is to get good protection (mudflaps and/or full-length runningboard-step, not "hoops"). Have you been on much gravel or small-stone trails, and with what experience? I can say for a certainty that it ceased by 30K (Now at 46.5K).

Also worth noting is that rocks that grabbed and held can work their way up through the ply and cause a puncture.

Something that should have been brought up much earlier is the importance of airing down.
My commute often involves gravel roads to freeway speeds within the span of a minute.

Airing down is great for off-roading, but not practical in daily living.
