I like the Bronco pickup concept better than the gladiator by far. The gladiators just look weird. That said, I would be extremely tempted to go with a Bronco Pickup if they can tow over 7,000 pounds like some Gladiators ;)

Or just order this and add your own wheels, and paint the grille and bumpers. 5.0 with a 3.31 locker, about $38K… 😁

Motor Trend has been speculating on vehicles from EXCLUSIVE RUMORS since I can remember, and they all have basically 3 things in common:

1 - they are always years away, to the point where the rumor had to literally have happened at lunch that day

2 - the renders are always terrible (not just inaccurate, but ugly)

3 - they are wrong a lot

Now, this is probably pretty close to what we would get if Ford made it, and at some point they might just go for it. However, I'd bet that it would be with the last refresh of the 2020's if it happens, so it wouldn't really look like that anymore. Ford has already looked at the Gladiator and is probably watching how things go, and it can't be ignored that although they're popular they do have the jack-of-all-trades thing going on.

I find it hysterical that a Jeep or a Bronco with an open bed doesn't need a spare tire mounted on the tailgate, yet if the bed is closed, it has to have a spare. Yeah, that makes perfect sense....

The Bronco looks INFINITELY better without the ridiculous spare on the tailgate. Every time I see a Gladiator, I think, "Wow, nice butt!"

Future Cars: 2025 Ford Bronco Pickup Has Its Phasers Set to “Fun”
What we know about the Bronco truck coming to battle the Jeep Gladiator and Toyota Tacoma.

Ford Bronco Motor Trend: 2025 Ford Bronco Pickup - What We Know 364A0A8D-C1EA-4BE0-899F-2A5422F4ED0D

WHAT IT IS: Ford's answer to the Jeep Gladiator. But wait, doesn't the existing Ranger fill that role? Yes and no. This Bronco-styled, off-road-focused pickup will target adventure-minded truck enthusiasts who gravitate toward the Gladiator, Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro, and Chevy Colorado ZR2. Therefore, expect the Bronco pickup to wear essentially the same bodywork as its SUV sibling, albeit with a short cargo bed. Removable doors and roof panels are a given.

WHY IT MATTERS: With no more cars to sell besides the Mustang, Ford needs its SUV and truck efforts to crush it by being both good and plentiful. A Bronco pickup, despite overlapping heavily with the Ranger—on which the Bronco is based, anyway—is intended to be additive rather than redundant, offering buyers a more stylish midsize truck option. You can bet Ford won't complain about the extra profits this surely pricier model will rake in, either. And lest you think Ford is cravenly chasing cash, keep in mind the original Bronco was offered as a (tiny) pickup, so there's precedent.

PLATFORM AND POWERTRAIN: There's no surprise here. The Bronco pickup truck is expected to share the next-generation Ranger's frame and underpinnings, albeit beefed up to match its promise of greater off-road capability. Look for the same 2.3-liter turbocharged I-4 and 2.7-liter twin-turbo V-6 engine choices offered in the Bronco SUV, as well as that rig's 10-speed automatic transmission and—fingers crossed—seven-speed manual gearbox.

ESTIMATED PRICE: Jeep's Gladiator starts at more than $35,000—rich for a midsize pickup, particularly one lacking power windows, door locks, mirrors, or even a solid roof. Such is the "fun tax" for a truck with standard four-wheel drive and the iconic Wrangler's sense of adventure. The Ford Bronco pickup, like the SUV version, will probably slightly undercut the Jeep's price and come standard with more features. Even so, that'll place the Bronco truck's MSRP thousands higher than a similar Ranger's.

EXPECTED ON-SALE DATE: 2024
Total clickbait tabloid speculation.

@l88m22vette You nailed it! I remember seeing Motor Trend cover articles on the upcoming mid-engine C4 Corvette in the late ‘70s. I bought the magazines and drooled. But alas, it was all so much hooey; you know the rest of the story.

Yes. Taking reservations now for 2029 delivery (maybe).
Can't build the original truck, so let's branch out and start other builds. 2029 is probably a wish list build. By 2030 we are going EV so these will become scrap pile trucks?

It needs to be a 2 door with a bigger bed to look right. I know a 2 door won't happen and families want four doors, but that bed just isn't right and any longer on the four door and the truck is too long for off road.

A 2 door with space behind the seats for stuff inside, like a super cab, with a 6' bed would look cool and retro. Have more room for stuff in total (inside and out) than my 2 door, but it wouldn't be much longer; close to the size of a four door.

That would be a true niche vehicle and that would be cool, but not as popular; as most niche vehicles are. Give me that with the manual & my specs, and I'd spend more for less... Less interior space... More overall room to haul with the bed.

How about just offer a Sasquatch package on a base Ranger XL, and we'll let the aftermarket produce a Raptor-like front end so it doesn't look like ass.

Would that be too much to ask?

Yep.

2 door, extended cab, on a 4 door chassis, with a decent size bed. Rear wheelwells centered on the bedsides. Baby 'Zilla 6.8L V8, manual trans.

AEV made a Jeep TJ "Brute" that was just about perfect - didn't have an extended cab, but it was close.
