😂
This is all so exaggerated for article material. There would not be meaningful confusion if the vehicles were on the road and people saw them in real life.

Ford’s answer to “how it plans to combat public confusion” should be along the lines of ‘yeah…we’re not worried about that. Have you seen a Bronco?’
Ford cleared this entire matter up when each of their VP's showed up to the Mustang Owners of America annual event in their Mustangs.... Except one of them was an SUV.

I am tempted to start carrying a pic of the sport and 4 Door around for show and tell.
for now I settled with, did you read the word Bronco on the back of the car, if so then its a Sport.

Soon will graduate to "Could you see the spare tire on the back?"

I think the Bronco Sport is awesome, but when people don't know better and think it's what I'm getting, I like to show them this picture and say, "It's the Baby Bronco. Isn't she cute? I'm getting the one on the right, her big Brother."😍

Disclaimer: I absolutely love everything about the Bronco Sport.... except the fact that it's not a Bronco. So many people that I've told that I've had a reservation have said "I've seen a lot of them out on the road". A little frustrating but understandable since most people don't have the same level of obsession that I (we) do. :ROFLMAO:
Yep a NUMBER of friends/acquintances have said to me " OH I SAW A BRONCO the other day, it was so tiny you sure that thing will really off road/not look like a sissy SUV/look like your wife's car?
NO THATS NOT THE REAL BRONCO!! THEY AREN'T OUT YET!!!!
Well it said BRONCO....
ARRGGHHH!!!!!!

I'm right with you bud they should have called it pony or shetland or sumpthin!!

This topic usually comes up when someone wants to bash the Sport. It has also come up in various professional reviews, and their consensus is YES the Sport is deserving of the name Bronco. Sure it is a completely different vehicle, but the choice of name is probably a wise marketing decision by Ford. I'm waiting on a "real" Bronco, but I was following a Sport up Independence pass in Colorado and it was going like a bat out of hell. From what I've heard -- there is no shame in the Sport wearing a Bronco badge. Lighten up people.
I think I was pretty light? I like the car - I think the roll out was handled improperly. Imagine if the Maverick was called the F150 Sport how many people would get confused by that. Also imagine if it hypothetically got rolled out first. This what the article outlines. There's no outrage, just pointing out that it's strange.

Funny gif for those posting they’re proud BRONCO owners in front of their Escape, but not exactly a winning analogy for Ford-bashing: don’t know of anyone who thinks the Mach E is a low, 2 door combustion coupe starting cheap and selling zillions…or vice versa, that Mustang is a hybrid/electric crossover with faux sophistication.

No problem l was referring to the folks bashing the sport not so much on this thread. Agree it causes confusion but unlikely to hurt sales.

I haven’t been off-roading, other than dirt bike, in more than 30 years. My wife has only sat in the passenger seat off-road.

We used her Sport in Moab this weekend. She drove it up to Gemini Bridge and felt really comfortable doing so. I did Pucker Pass/Long Canyon top-to-bottom without issue. Never used GOAT mode, just 4H over rock and sand.

Yes, it’s a small vehicle but it’s capable and worthy of the Bronco name.
This right here is one of the reasons I feel good about not getting the Sasquatch package on my Big Bend. It is sure to be more capable than the sport and be able to go over anything "I" would need it to. Glad you had a great trip!

They should have just called it the "Bronco II" like back in the 80's.

Sport sounds more like a trim level, than a different model.

Ford is sitting on so many nameplates.

Galaxie, Pinto, Ranchero, Tempo, Escort.

I mean, they called the Ranger Sport "Maverick" they should have called the Bronco Sport the Pinto
I drove a Pinto. That sport is no Pinto, sir.

Parking my full sized, 35" tire Bronco next to Bronco Sports in every parking lot I use will be my new hobby.
Mine will go in the garage next to my wife's Sport. The Sport fits her needs M-F and allows her to do some outdoor stuff on weekends.

A Bronco Sport did Hell's Gate so it's not a knock on the Bronco name. <shrug>

At the end of the day, once the big one comes out, this whole discussion will be a moot point. It's only confusing now because of the staggered rollout.

Furthermore, the "model " and "model SPORT" differentiation doesn't seem to hurt Range Rover/Range Rover Sport at all.....

There was a generation or two (can't remember which) where the Explorer Sport was the base trim. Fast forward to today, and it's the fastest Explorer.

This is sorta different, but it kinda makes me appreciate Honda trim levels a bit more...dead simple: LX, EX, Sport, EX-L, Touring, Elite. (Not all are available for all models, however.)
Explorer Sport (nor Edge Sport) no longer exist - both were replaced by ST.

Not really sure how those trim levels are "dead simple" - I'd have no idea where those sit in the lineup if you didn't list them in order, aside from maybe "elite".

But not much different than Ford's usual truck trims - XL, XLT, Lariat, Platinum, etc..

Ugh. Mach E... I would have bought one if they would have just called it that. If there is a single person who honestly thinks we should be calling it a Mustang... Everyone else should stone that person.
So you liked the car enough to buy it, but then didn't because of the........name? Sounds like you were looking for an excuse not to get it.
