I sunk my first alternator in a mudhole and immediately knew i fugged up... 20 seconds out the other side, DINNGGGG.. Service Charging System NOW....

That was back last October at about 18,000 miles.. Warranty covered the replacement and performed the TSB shield update.

I did something similar 2-3 weeks back on the passenger side and no charging fault this time, so the tsb does help... ended up pushing a wall of thick Ozark mud up to the headlight and honestly though i was about to go swimming to winch myself out. thankfully i was able to get some wiggle room in reverse and go around the deepest chunk.
That’s cool you didn’t let the first time stop you from going through the mud! I’m gonna be way more cautious next time.

really hope someone comes up with an alternator relocation mod.

Oh I have been quite gun-shy.. I have avoided a couple holes that dove off faster than I hoped.. but not totally afraid of getting dirty

Yup dead alternator from the mud.

This platform and the Ranger have horrible alternator placement.
Agreed. Funny how my ā€˜03 Excursion has the alternator as high as possible but these Broncos not at all. Have all the engineers with common sense retired?

Did you end up getting yours buttoned up?

I had a bad alternator with my 2.7 (died at 7k miles in, dealer stated it was factory defect) so wasn't due to mud or anything.. This is now how I deal with mud on the trail now. I'm not interested in being stranded in the middle of an intersection again from a dead alt.

I get a lot of laughs as everyone bombs through the puddles and I tiptoe around... but mud can really mess shit up.

Yes I did! Dealer replaced it and the battery on warranty. I definitely look the same going over the mud pits now
