Uh... If I was a gambling man, I'd say the labor cost on the airbag replacement on a MIC IP with seamless chute deployment/door is higher. It will most likely require the IP removal to get to it. Labor-intensive AF.

I work in Interior trim engineering.
I meant logistically, not physically. Modules are in VERY short supply. Boy would I love to pick your brain sometime.

Good point- The way that instrument panel needs to be disassembled is: Topper removed, lower applique-finish panel removed, center console removed, glove box removed, THEN the major center finish panel assembly can be removed, which houses the airbag assembly.. It's not as bad as some others, but labor-intensive none the less.

EDIT: Keep in mind- the removal of each of those major components requires more steps within them themselves per each assembly.

8/4 build date here (smack dab in the middle of the dates listed in the recall).

Still stuck on DM but not showing any open FSA’s on OASIS so far. 🤞

Yep. Airbag recall is going to stop delivery on almost all the DM Bronco's.. Sorry, guys. The good news (not for you) is that new builds are shipping pretty quick right now.

The OTHER good news is that the airbag situation is much easier to fix, so I dont think you will have much delay.

If it was the controller module, RIP.. but I have yet to see any constraints on airbags.
Where did you find out how many were affected, because many in the date range are not affected. I don't know how many, but quite a few are not.

I have an 8/13 blend date and mine also says NO RECALLS when I enter my VIN. I’d have thought mine would be part of the recall. Can we get some additional people to check and help confirm if we can trust this information from the Ford site?
It looks trustworthy so far. I was able to see dirt mountain Broncos both affected and uneffected that are still sitting at DMSC and untouched since 08/05 and 08/06.

1FMDE5FP9MLA20185 - RECALLED
Vs
1FMDE5CP2MLA76229 - NOT RECALLED

It also shows the same information in ETIS.

I just want to make sure i'm understanding this, you're upset that Ford is resolving a safety related issue on your vehicle, a device that may very well save your life or the life of one of your loved ones in the event of an accident?

This is truly a fascinating time to be alive.
Everyone else sees and understands it is being upset that Ford, with a lot less than full volume production and subsequently (should they have chosen to exercise it) much more time for QC per unit, failed to notice such a glaring error in a safety related issue in his vehicle that might have cost him or a loved one their life before shipping it out.

On the plus side, your interpretation allowed you to fire off a snarky comment that make the other kids snicker at the expense of someone else. That is really the important thing anyway, right? Perhaps you truly think people are upset that Ford is fixing a problem instead of being miffed that they didn't take enough care to prevent it?

Don’t get too offended. He sends condescending snarky remarks to everyone. admins have been alerted. There is a pattern and other people complain about him too. Fortunately most people on this site are more mature.

So, unless I missed something, the defect is that within the airbag unit, the bag was not folded correctly. Having removed my share of airbag modules in restoring a car, I do not recall having the ability to "see" that. The unit is exactly that, a unit from the supplier. They apparently realized a batch where this could be an issue, and notified Ford, who is now, responsibly, taking steps to replace them.

Yes, it sucks, but I did not blame BMW for the Takata FUBAR, not really sure you ought to be holding Ford on this, unless they are making their own air bag modules.

How much time does Ford allocate for this job? Seems to be very labor intensive.

No repair info out yet which will have the times. My guess is less than 1.2 hours based on what the labor time guide shows. Realistically it's a two hour plus job.
