Seems preposterous to me, seeing delivery is likely 7 or 9 months out. Made some informal inquiries, and it looks like I'm the only one...?
This is in Canada by the way...
Bitch of it is, I just hit up my line of credit to max out my TFSA contribution for the year! Obviously it'll be paid off before the Bronco comes, but it can't look great on my credit.
Wtf!?

My dealer is wanting to do that as well to ensure the people can afford to get a Bronco. That said, they are only doing it to those that don't have the Ford pre approval offer in there reservation.

This sounds absolutely wrong. A deposit, perhaps, but not trying to make you do a credit pull. I'd have not minced words if Granger tried to force me to.

When I sold cars I definitely would have preferred to have had some walk ins pull credit because after a while you tend to get a sense of who pays their bills and who doesn't. But it's considered poor form to encourage that early in the sales process.

First I've heard of pre-approval...?

Seems like someone else from Canada posted the same question last month. Maybe it's a Canada thing.

Nah you got it all wrong... They are only doing it to Texans... Can't trust them peeps 🤷‍♂️

But seriously, I wasn't asked for a credit check and I wasn't pre-approved either. I've heard of some dealers wanting to do it, but we just said look, we have people closing on houses soon, or refinancing.. So we don't need extra hits on our credit. And so far, those few dealers have backed down from it.

My dealer tried to do that too, he said it's to make sure people can afford the bronco and will actually pick up their order.. I got out of it by showing a bank statement

Not from Canada, but what possible excuse doe he have for that? Also, with my reservation, I was pre approved by FOMCO Credit for far more than the cost of the vehicle...

This sounds dumb from a dealer perspective. If I was a dealer I’d want all my reservations to have shitty credit (not sayin Op has shitty credit) because they would order one, then maybe not be able to close the deal on delivery and I could sell it for a lot of $ and add ADM selling it off the lot in high demand.
