Just my opinion, but for the minimal amount of effort to rebuild my vaccum lines, it sure is nice to not have to get out in the middle of a dark night in a Sierra snowstorm to engage the front axle... knowing if I did damage the vac lines again, I can always get out and manually engage.
In your case I agree with you.

We don't get too much snow here. I'm retired now and tend to wait the day or two before it all melts when we do manage to get some accumulation.

In the event I do get out in the snow or in some mud, getting out to lock in the hubs is not a big deal for me. Don't get me wrong, it would be handier to not have to do it manually, but I don't mind.
