Go test drive a ranger and see. I did yesterday and hated how tinny the engine sounds, but yes it had plenty of pep to move.

I am certain that if I was definitely an automatic transmission guy then I would absolutely be upgrading to the 2.7. Doesn't make sense not to. If you're not getting the manual I'd encourage you to go for the 2.7 upgrade hand down.
I appreciate the take. My beloved muscle car’s hum added to the driving experience.
It sounds like I actually need to drive the 2.7
